A man from Tenby has been jailed for life, after being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend.
Thirty-one-year-old Steven Daniel Williams was sentenced to 22 years at Swansea Crown Court on Monday, after he was found guilty of the murder of 35-year-old Joanna Elizabeth Hall, following a three-week trial.
Joanna was found at her home address in Cresswell Street, with multiple stab wounds on March 16, last year, but was able to tell police what happened to her from her hospital bed, before she passed away 19 days later.
After eight hours of deliberations, the jury at Swansea Crown Court reached a 10-2 majority verdict last Thursday.
In sentencing Williams, Judge, Mrs. Justice Nicola Davies, described his actions as "brutal, callous and reprehensible".
"This was a sustained and brutal assault using a knife or knives upon a defenceless victim," she said.
Afterwards, Detective Inspector Carl Roach said: "The compelling evidence delivered from this protracted investigation by Dyfed-Powys Police is testament to the quality of the investigation that took place.
"Joanna was murdered in her own home. This crime has repulsed Joanna's family, the community of Tenby and the investigation team.
"The sentence is welcomed, as without doubt the public are safer with Steven Williams being firmly behind bars.
"Joanna's family have shown the utmost dignity and patience during this difficult time - it is to them and the investigation teams in Dyfed-Powys that I pay tribute.
"I am hopeful the sentencing can be used to bring some closure," he added.
