The Big Pedal is a giant inter-school cycling competition spanning 15 school days in March.
It works a bit like the Tour de France in that each day of the race is a new stage following a different Sustrans cycle route around the UK.
Schools encourage pupils, parents and staff to cycle and scoot to school each day and the more that do, the faster their time will be for each stage of the race.
Schools log in to the website each day of the race and record their school's results. All school results are then published the following day on the website and schools can track how they and other schools are doing throughout the race. Tenby Junior School's junior road safety officers are completing the sheets and recording daily.
After day two, the pupils at Tenby Junior School had travelled 109 miles, nearly completing the first route on the map around Britain.
A total of 73 people, including parents, teachers and the children cycled on the Monday and Tuesday of this week.
With over 500 schools taking part, Tenby were then 109th. The children will continue to ride or scoot for the next three weeks and clock up the miles.
If you wish to see how they are doing, you can log onto http://thebigpedal.org.uk">http://thebigpedal.org.uk.
It was great to see some of the parents supporting their children and some even riding with them. If any parent is able to ride with their child to help our total, please join us.
A big thank you to Jon Mills from Tenby Cycles who very kindly gave up his time to give all the bikes a health check before the event.
Also a big thank you to Sue Mathias, working for Sustrans, who helped out and provided prizes for the children on the first two days.
Please keep an eye on the website of our progress.
