Haverfordwest U11s 0
Tenby U11s 50 pts
Andrew Price sponsored Tenby Under 11s had a great win last Sunday, outscoring their opponents Haverfordwest by 10 tries to nil.
Tenby found it hard in the beginning to get into their rhythm as the referee sometimes was too fussy with his whistle.
Tenby wanted to dictate the pace of the game, but were too often prevented from playing their usual style of rugby.
The scoreline might suggest an easy game, but that is far from the truth, as the bigger Haverfordwest forwards kept picking up and driving straight up the middle of the Tenby forwards.
Tenby's defence was superb one again, with every player putting their body on the line and often driving them back in the tackle.
Tenby's strength came from their loose forwards, who covered every inch of grass, either tackling or supporting the backs.
William Swales, Billy Kinnaer and Owain Evans all played their part and, with tough games like this, the boys will soon pick up to another level.
The front row worked really hard, with Thomas Rees having a few strikes against the head, while Morgan Sparey and Dominic Booth made a lot of yards with ball in hand, whilst doing the graft at the ruck area.
Iori Hicks had his best game of the season and saved a certain try with a great tackle on his own line.
Harri Williams controlled things with his excellent understanding of the game and his running causing numerous holes out wide.
The centre partnership of Thomas H. Jones and Ben Millward were rock solid in defence and were both eager to get the ball wide to the back three of Henry McBeth, Ethan Price and Lorcan Williams.
The three of them worked really well together, with Ethan showing his pace, Lorcan man-marking the county winger and giving him no joy, and the wrecking machine that is Henry scattering defenders with his direct style of running, while his defending was impeccable.
This was an excellent team performance from the boys in what was at times a tough game, but the coaches were really pleased with the way they stuck together when at times decisions were going against them. They are a credit to the club.
Try scorers were Henry with 3, Ethan 2, Dom 2, William, Harri and Lorcan, while Harri converted all 10.
Next week the boys are away at Pontyberem.
Haverfordwest U15s 5
Tenby Utd U15s 31
Sunday saw the in-form Tenby U15s side travel to Haverfordwest.
Both teams play exciting running rugby, and this always makes for an enjoyable fixture.
Tenby received the kick-off and put themselves under pressure from the off by not claiming the ball.
The play was in and around the Tenby 22 for five minutes until a turn-over ball saw the backs spread the possession wide for returning openside Bronzac to sprint from the halfway line unchallenged.
The home team could have equalised, but the winger was forced over the deadball line by two defenders.
This was the kick up the proverbial that Tenby needed and they soon ran in three more tries through Jordan, Jonathon and Bronzac, who claimed the try of the day after superb support play by the forwards.
Tenby made six changes at half-time, with replacement winger Rafe scoring a strong try, which was well deserved as he had previously defended manfully.
To their credit, Haverfordwest never gave up and with the last play of the game they were rewarded with a try.
Special mention goes to Jimmy for kicking three conversions.
Another great performance from the Tenby boys, with commitment and vision.
Thanks go to the taxi drivers/parents for getting the boys to the game.
