Tenby U15s 17

Rumney U15s 15

Tenby Under 15s clinched a two point win against Rumney last Sunday.

From early on, Tenby were the stronger side with Gregg C. scoring an early try. For most of the first half, Tenby found themselves pinned in their own half, rigorously defending a continuous onslaught from Rumney.

They withstood the pressure well, again being strong in the rucks and mauls. The forwards, particularly, the front row, were a strong match for the opposing team in the scrums. Tenby dominated the lineouts, although the backs would have liked some quicker ball from their scrum half.

When they did get good ball, they moved it along quickly. Once the ball was moved wide, Rumney were stretched and found it difficult to defend.

Credit must be given to the stand-in fullback, George, who gallantly stood up to the plate from his usual place with the Under 14s, making some very important pressure catches and ground-making kicks.

The continuous pressure boiled over with many unnecessary penalties finally resulting in punches being thrown and a Rumney player being marched-off the pitch by the referee.

Two more tries were run in by Chris M. and Luke B., with just the one being converted. This conversion proved to be the deciding two points as the visitors came back hard in what was an extremely physical second half, scoring three tries of their own.

Fortunately for Tenby, the visitors failed to convert any tries (one attempt being superbly charged down by Gregg), giving the boys the narrow margin win that they deserved.

Tenby U9s win again!

Tenby U9s, sponsored by Folly Farm, won again on the weekend against touring side Rhymney 10 tries to one. It was another fine performance from the Folly Farmers who played superbly well as a team.

Forwards Morgan Sparey is now starting to use his physical presence and is causing problems when he runs straight. Ben Millward, William Swales and Billy Kinnaer were all outstanding around the pitch and the three of them never missed a tackle all day. Henry McBeth and Jamie Ebsworth were also at their best constantly harassing the opposition players.

Iori Hicks had another great game and his service to Harri was spot on. Harri Williams was able to find plenty of  holes out wide with his pace for impressive fellow backs Dom Booth, who always runs straight and hard to Thomas Harding Jones who has the silky skills of Shane Williams, and Harvey Johns who has really impressed with the ball in his hand this season.

It was an excellent all-round game from the boys and what was pleasing is that they always listen and are keen to develop as a team.

Try scorers were: Thomas (3), Harri (2), Dom (2), William, Billy, Ben.

This Sunday, is the last game for the boys and they will be playing for the Folly Farm Trophy. Trimsaren, Pembroke, Bynea, Tenby Bs and two touring teams from England who are staying at Kiln Park will be competing for the trophy which will kick-off at 10.30 am at The Clicketts. After, the boys will be having a barbecue so we hope parents can hang around.
