Tenby Swifts Under 9s march on
The young Folly Farmers played two games last Sunday away at Pontyberem. Tenby were only allowed to take one team, so they brought a squad of 13 to cover both games.
The first game was against the hosts, which Tenby won by six tries to two. Captain for the game was Harvey Johns who had a great game and also ended up on the scoresheet. Also stepping up was Jack, who played really well and was keen to support the runners. Jamie Ebsworth came back into the side and instantly put in some big tackles to knock the opposition back.
Harvey Bowles linked well with his forwards and was also rewarded with a try. Lewis Sarrionandia played on the wing and his work rate was excellent; not only superb in defence, he also scored a great try.
Other try scorers were Harri Williams (2) and William Swales.
The second game against Cefneithin was a much tougher one, with the boys only having two minutes rest between the games. Captain Thomas Harding Jones capped a fine game after a dazzling run which ended with a try. Forwards Gethin Kelly and Ben Millward were always looking to steal the opposition ball. Henry McBeth had an outstanding day and was prominent during both games - he hasn't missed a tackle this season.
Man-of-the-match was William Swales, who marshalled the defence and was on hand numerous times to smash the opposition as they got near the try line. Iori Hicks was busy at scrum-half, linking between forwards and backs.
Dominic Booth and Harri Williams caused the opposition problems with their good angles of running. Dylan Scotcher marked another fine game and was also on hand with some great tackles. Tenby won the game three tries to one.
The games are coming thick and fast for the Under 9s, as this Sunday the boys are away at Tumble, with the B team away at Pembroke, and the following week away at Bynea.
The boys have done superbly well this season so far due to playing numerous competitive games week in week out up the line.
Training as usual at the astroturf 5-6 pm every Thursday - new boys most welcome as there are two teams at Under 9s.
Chris, Rob and Doc appreciate all of the support from parents and relatives who continuously support the boys and provide transport week in week out.
Tenby 5 tries Neyland 0
A strong squad of 14 players, namely Harry, Edward, Jack, Jacob, Max, Malley, Lewis, Ryan, Aran, Natty, Adam Davidson and subs Chris Caine, Morgan Ducket and Harry Vickery, crossed the water to Neyland on Sunday and produced a magnificent victory over Neyland Under 11s.
There was a fast and furious first half, resulting in Tenby scoring four tries through Adam, Harry, Jack and Edward.
There was good rucking from forwards Edward 'eat 'em' Hurle, Aran 'powerhouse' Williams, Max 'the mighty' Brewster, Lewis 'lethal' and Ryan 'the ruthless hooker' Jerimias, who managed to get the ball out to scrum-half Jacob 'Mutley' Knox. He in turn released quick ball to the backs, Adam 'the dart' Davidson, Malley 'the munch' Paxton, Jack 'the tackle' Parkinson, Natty 'the dodge' John and Harry 'the legs' Goforth.
Ryan scored a try in the first three minutes of the second half and the game was ended due to the five-try ruling, resulting in subs Harry, Chris and Morgan unfortunately not playing, but they gave plenty of vocal support to their team-mates.
Lloyd 'the leak' and Andreas 'the block' did an excellent job of assistant team coaches, due to the absence of Jim 'will fix it'.
Tenby Under 15s 10 pts. Crymych 35
The warm afternoon sun was the brightest part of a generally lacklustre effort by Tenby U15s on Sunday.
The boys did not bring their best to the game, failing to work as a cohesive unit, as they had shown in previous matches, and this cost them dearly.
The forwards were slow getting to the breakdowns which meant the backs were sucked in and all shape was lost, which Crymych were not slow to then capitalise on. Playing the ball wide, stretching a thin red line and even a chip and run were all too much for Tenby.
There were some individuals who deserve a mention - captain Elliott displayed his usual 110 per cent commitment with good tackling, while always looking to give quality off-loads.
Jack 'B' made good ground and tackled solidly, while Luke kicked well and was good on the ball, despite carrying a leg injury. Dave carried the ball well, gaining important ground whenever he could, and finally a notable effort from Jake, who scored both of the Tenby tries.
Tenby did perform very well in the lineouts and defended bravely, but were outplayed on the day by a much stronger and better organised Crymych side.
