Tenby U9s

Tenby's A and B U9s joined forces at their away game against Pembroke on a sunny Sunday morning for a truly superb game of mixed ability junior rugby.

The successful team played true to their nature and showed what talent this U9s team has to offer.

The skilled forwards, together with a solid defence, yet again proved Tenby are a force to be reckoned with by winning triumphantly and ensuring their winning streak continues.

Thanks also to one of the new B players, Derek, who showed true sportsmanship by playing for the opposition to even up the two eager sides - well done!

Credit must also go to Pembroke for a good performance showing a team who never gave up or faltered.

Thanks must also go to parents without whose continued support and encouragement it would not be possible to play.

Reminder to parents: Training is on the astro-turf at 4.45 pm until further notice, Thursdays as usual.

PEMBROKE 0

On Sunday, October 12, the Tenby U13s (sponsored by the Strathmore Hotel) hosted Pembroke at The Clicketts.

Full of confidence after their bright start to the season, Tenby started with a purpose. Constant pressure in and around the Pembroke 22 was always going to lead to points for the homeside, but these points were a long time coming.

Pembroke defended like Tigers, forcing Tenby into uncharacteristic mistakes. But something had to give.

Eventually, the strong rucking of Tenby's forwards turned a Pembroke attack into defence, with strong running flanker Aaron joining the midfield and bursting through a tackle to score the first try. This was the score at half-time.

A couple of stern words from the coaching staff in the interval was all it needed for the restart. Tenby switched into top gear and very quickly scored in the corner, Aaron again making a break after the forwards turned over a Pembroke lineout. Shortly after replacement winger, O.T.B., received the ball just inside his own half and showed his pace, rounding three players and scoring in the corner.

O.T.B. scored his second after another strong run, while Rob converted for a further two points.

After a maul which Tenby drove for a good 20-metres, Jordan touched down, driven over by Marcus. The conversion was added by Jerome. Jerome himself went over for the sixth and final try which went unconverted. Final score was 34-0.

Tenby fielded: Jools, Luke, Tom S., Ryan, Marcus, Bronzac, Oliver, Theo, Tom P., Kieran, Rob, Elliott, Jerome, Josh, Shaun, Nathan, Rafe, Jonathon, Ben, O.T.B. and Jordan.

Many thanks to Chrissy Williams for refereeing the game and also to all the parents for their continued support.

Tenby U7s and U8s

Tenby's U7s and 8s sides both lost narrowly over the weekend against Pembroke.

The U7s were just pipped by three tries to two, with Rhys Grigg and Henry Lees crossing over, while the U8s were also only just defeated, losing by four tries to two, with Oliver Wheeler and Ryan Scourfield grabbing the tries.
