Tenby U8s through to first final

The Folly Farmers are through to their first final after playing in a rugby festival on Good Friday. Tenby United U8s showed their form going through the group stages, playing four games and scoring 17 tries and only conceding two.

The boys impressed with their team ethic and never gave the opposition a chance to settle with ball in hand.

The coaches, Rob and Chris, were pleased in the opening stages, but stressed that they would get harder games the further the boys went.

After topping the group, the Sharks played Llangwm in the quarter-finals and had an excellent game, winning five tries to two. Dom Booth scored, with Ben Millward grabbing two, while Billy Kinnaer amd Harri Williams bagged the other two. The Sharks went into the semi-final against Haverfordwest in confident mood after they had beaten them earlier in the season.

It was a gripping contest with the scores level two- apiece thanks to William Swales and Harri Williams. Man-of-the-moment Henry Mcbeth grabbed the vital try to win the game three tries to two. The boys were overjoyed winning through to the final and  the coaches were pretty pleased as well! Big efforts were put in by Max Brindley, Thomas Harding Jones and Billy Kinnaer, who all ran in several tries, also Jamie Ebsworth and Henry Mcbeth. Iori Hicks worked superbly in defence, while Dominic Booth and William Swales were always in support. The 'terrible twins' Harri and Ben, meanwhile, always seemed to be in the right place.

The Tigers also played in the tournament and just missed going through the group after only losing one game, but went out on tries scored. Harry Cook was the main scorer, with Lewis Sarrionandia, Harrison Duckett, Harvey Johns and Gethin Kelly grabbing the other tries. Dylan Scotcher was captain and had a superb tournament. Fletcher Dyer, Connor Lewis and Rees Davies ran well with ball in hand and never tired in defence. Declan Cole and Alex Probert also played their hearts out, chasing everything. Also congratulations to Pembroke Dock for putting on a superb festival which all the parents and children enjoyed.
