Tenby Under 12s 6 Narberth under 12s 2

Tenby attacked quickly down the slope and Narberth soon had to use an offside plan to protect their goal. A couple of early shots gave no problem to the Narberth goalkeeper, but then home captain Jerome Mansbridge fired in a left foot shot to put Tenby into the lead. Tenby tried to get into their usual rhythm, but were inaccurate with their passing, although some direct pressure on the Narberth goal resulted in Mansbridge firing in another left foot shot from close range. Narberth were always prepared to strike back and Jacob Dent and Nathan Wilson did well to hold the defensive line just inside their own half. After a couple of Narberth attacks were held up by blocks by Lewis Roberts in the Tenby goal, Mansbridge again broke away and, closing in from the left side, fired in an unstoppable cross-shot to record an impressive hat-trick as his side went 3-0 ahead. Tenby continued to struggle to get their passing game together, and when the ball was lost on their left side at the half-way line, Narberth struck back with a good individual goal. Tenby replied twice through Morgan Slate following poor marking in the Narberth defence, and a 5-1 lead was established by half-time. Narberth showed great determination during the second half, and Tenby were pressurised into making mistakes, with their passing around the edge of the visitors' penalty area being particularly poor. Clear goal-scoring opportunities were lost as a result, as the shooting was well off-target, to keep Narberth in a game which should have been put well beyond their reach by early in the second half. Narberth kept going well, and as Tenby pushed forward, Rob Davies had to cover quickly on occasions, and Miguel Cruz had a fast winger to mark. Tenby tried hard to increase their lead, but their shots were still well off target, until Mansbridge found the net with a hard cross-shot. Narberth again scored to remind the home team the that match remained closer than was expected, although Tenby's 6-2 win was eventually a fair reflection on the overall play. Tenby squad: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Dent, Rob Davies, Nathan Wilson, Brandon Taylor-Monaghan, Miguel Cruz, James Bridges, Jerome Mansbridge, Richard Tebbutt, Ryan Price, Ellis Morgan, Ryan Hill, Morgan Slate. Thanks to Richard Bridges for refereeing.

TENBY U9s 2 tries NARBERTH U9s 2

Tenby were at The Clicketts on Sunday playing host to Narberth. The boys knew this would be one of the tougher games of the season, and that's how it turned out. Narberth kicked-off with both sides really up for the occasion. The game started off very tightly, with neither team giving anything away. Narberth created the opening chance and were looking likely to score when Toby Poole put in a try-saving tackle. This seemed to lift the home team, as moments later Danny Wainwright sprinted down the wing for the first try of the game. However, Narberth replied quickly through a try of their own, despite some gutsy tackling from Jack Cummins, Tom Murphy and Jac Waters. Both teams tackled superbly before the break to deny tries, with Jack Tucker and Ryan Cole putting in some thumping hits. When the half-time whistle blew, both teams were glad to have a breather, and so were the crowd after watching a tense first half! Half-time 1-1. In the second period, Declan Cole and Jacob Thomas came on and immediately got stuck in to the opposition. With neither team giving an inch, it took a breakaway burst by Jack Broadhurst from his own half to regain the lead for Tenby. Some more good tackling from Narberth just prevented Ben Palin from scoring in the corner. With the minutes ticking on, Tenby were left with a little passage in their own 22, bravely defending for their lives. Unluckily, in the last play of the game, Narberth broke away to score in the corner! What a dramatic ending! Final score: Tenby two tries, Narberth two tries. In the end, a fair result. Thanks go to Carl Wainwright for coaching the boys. Tenby team: Ben Palin, Jack Cummins, Jack Waters, Danny Wainwright, Toby Poole, Tom Murphy, Jack Broadhurst, Jack Tucker, Ryan Cole, Declan Cole and Jacob Thomas.

TENBY U10s 3 tries NARBERTH U10s 2 Narberth kicked off, the ball was caught well by Tenby and driven back into the visiting forwards, who stole back the ball, but knocked on. The resulting scrum produced a rocket-like pass from Jacob 'Mutley' Knox to Harry Goforth, who charged towards the line and was just held-up. The ball got quickly whipped down the line by Tom Kinnear and Malley Paxton to Edward Hurle, who side-stepped two players to cross the whitewash! The next try came from a scrum close to the line where the ever-dangerous Jeramias twins, Lewis and Ryan, secured a good ball for Jacob to pick up and dart over the line. Narberth got back into the game with two tries either side of half-time. A tense battle ensued, with some great tackling in defence from Aaron Lloyd and Jordan Cornick. The final try came from Tenby lineout ball won by Max Brewster, who leapt salmon-like to secure possession. This was ripped well by Aaron Williams and passed out to Tom, who side-stepped and passed the ball to Adam Davidson, who sent out a long floating pass to Harry, then Edward, who produced a brilliant break to go over for the winning try. A big thank you to both teams for such a good game and also to Myrddin Dennis for refereeing.
