TENBY UTD. U16s 7 pts. MILFORD HAVEN 17
Tenby Under 16s crashed to their second league defeat of the season last Sunday at Heywood Lane against a committed visiting XV from Milford. It is the first time Tenby, at this age group, have been beaten by any Pembrokeshire team in seven years of fixtures, but despite the reversal, it still leaves them second in the league table to undefeated Whitland. The only Tenby try was scored early in the first half by the prolific Jason Ronowitz, captain and number eight, and converted by centre Jamie Williams. Leading 7-0 at half-time, the home side could not score again, but leaked two quick tries from the speedsters that formed Milford's backline. To their credit, Tenby defended magnificently when their line was bombarded by the heavier visiting pack, but it was out wide that the visitors' 'Scarlets' players were given too much latitude to pick up speed. Once again too many penalties were conceded and tackles missed. The game was in the balance right up until five minutes from the end when the visitors crossed again, this time converting to put the game out of reach. The match ended with Tenby camped on the Milford line with the seconds ticking away, but with no further scores forthcoming. Tenby Under 16s have some difficult games coming up, with Aberystwyth visiting this Sunday and Whitland and Cardigan away in December. It's going to be tough, but if the boys play to their true potential, then results will come. One thing to be said for this team is that they never surrender. Tenby fielded: Matthew Davies, Chris Heesom, Vince Gyseman, Jonathon Miller, Jamie Williams, Toby Smith, Lloyd Thomas, Jack Baker, Will Hughes, Yannic Parker, Robert Jones, James North, Roy Osborne, Sam Ferguson, Jason Ronowitz (capt.) and Joseff Morris. Sub - Adam Walker.
Tenby U13s 34 pts. Whitland U13s 5
Tenby Under 13s played a weakened Whitland side at Heywood Lane on Sunday morning. It took the Tenby players a while to get going, but Greg soon showed how invaluable he is to the side, with no Whitland player able to match his pace as he crossed the line for a lovely try. Cameron also used his strength to make a couple of lovely runs straight into the heart of the Whitland defence, taking lots of players to get him down. Tenby's back line had a great game, really throwing the ball around with some great inter-passing, particularly between Joe F, Ben T and Greg C. Joe F had a great game running some lovely angles which really opened up the Whitland defence, allowing the supporting Jack and Ben T to get over the whitewash for their deserved tries. In the second half, Tenby put pressure on Whitland straight away, with Matt, leading from the front, taking the ball forward and being rewarded with a lovely try in the corner. Dylan also found his name on the score sheet when he went through on Whitland's lineout and, having put pressure on their scrum-half, collected the ball to score a characteristic hooker's try. Greg also completed his brace with another great run, once again placing the ball between the posts to make an easier kick for stand-in kicker Joe D, who ably converted two of Tenby's six tries. All of the Tenby players played well, Andrew also making some nice runs and Jake looking very comfortable in the centre position, connecting well with Elliot in the unfamiliar position of outside-half. Well played boys. Tenby fielded: Wesley Bonser, Dylan Griffin, Cameron Wood, Adam North, Ben Prestwich, Jack Butler, Matthew Lewis (capt.), Rob Luly, Joe Dennis, Elliot Randell, Jake Procter, Greg Caine, Ben Thomas, Andrew Murphy, Jo Farrell, Henry Pritchard Jones, Dominic Hicks. UNDER 8s
Tenby Under 8s were at home on Sunday when they had two great games against Whitland. In the first, some lovely tagging came from Ben Palin, Tom Murphy and Toby Poole. Jack Tucker was tagged just before the try line, but some great running by Billy Kinnear gave Tenby their first try and a half-time score of 1-1. A brilliant catch by Danny Wainwright enabled him to storm over the line and a lovely try by Billy gave Tenby a 3-1 lead. Ryan Cole made it another for Tenb, while Jac Waters passed to Dan, who got over the line for his hat-trick. Some great passing and tagging came from all the boys, with the final score being 6-4 to Tenby. Tenby team one: Jac Waters, Danny Wainwright, Ben Palin, Jack Tucker, Bill Kinnear, Toby Poole, Ryan Cole, Tom Murphy. In the second game, great tagging came from Alex Thomas and Declan Cole.
