enby Under 12s played host to Aberystwyth on Sunday morning at Heywood Lane in the semi-final of the Pembrokeshire Cup. After playing well in the Neyland Tournament and getting narrowly beaten in the semi-final by Haverfordwest, the boys were hopeful of a good result, though never having played Aberystwyth before, they were very much an unknown quantity.

The boys once again started off on the back foot as Aberystwyth attacked the Tenby line from the kick- off. Tenby defended well, however, and after collecting themselves and finding their line, the forwards soon won the ball and got it to the backs, with Greg C running from his own 22 and getting the first of his hat-trick, which, despite a great kick from Greg P, was just too tricky to convert.

Aberystwyth hit back almost straight away with a converted try, but just before the half-time whistle, Tenby used a well-worked move from a penalty on the Aberystwyth line, with Rob using his strength to charge over in the corner for a second try. Once again the angle of the conversion proved too difficult for Greg P, despite another good effort, and the score at half-time stood at 10-7 to Tenby.

Both teams came out in the second half having had good team talks from their coaches and Aberystwyth were first to score with another converted try, leaving Tenby trailing.

The second half really was a forwards battle, with all of the Tenby front line working hard to win the ball. Hooker Dylan won three scrums against the head and provided great lineout ball to second rows James and Adam, who won all their own lineouts and some of Aberystwyth's. Cam and Wesley worked hard in the rucks to secure Tenby ball, and back row forwards Jack and Matthew also worked hard, always going forward whenever they got the ball. Indeed, Matthew was given 'man-of-the- match' for his great work, at one point making three try-saving tackles in a row.

Joe D provided good service to the backs, enabling Elliot and Joe F to keep going forward and getting the ball to Greg C, enabling him to score his two second half tries, with Ben T and Luke ably supporting him.

Greg P and Joe D had a good conversion each, securing the win for Tenby. All the Tenby boys had a great match, putting in good tackles and, as always, Ben leading by example, with Dominic and Alastair both doing a great job.

Aberystwyth never stopped trying, taking the lead from Tenby twice and putting constant pressure on their line in the last five minutes, finally being rewarded with a well-deserved last-gasp unconverted try in the corner. It was a great match to watch and proved how confident the Tenby boys have become, twice coming from behind to win the match. Well done boys. Good luck in the final.
