Tenby U12s 54 pts. Whitland U12s 0

Tenby Under 12s played a great match on Sunday at Heywood Lane, running in 10 tries. After being well beaten in their last match by Pembroke Dock Quins, the Tenby boys were keen to show how well they can really play. David Duckworth and David Dunfee showed what good sports they were by volunteering to play for Whitland, enabling everyone to enjoy a 14-a-side match. Greg C (captain) was first to score with a lovely run down the pitch to get the first of his four tries. Joe F had a great game, using his strength well to barge a couple of opponents out of the way and running in three tries. Rob got a great try, with one of his charges down the field proving impossible for Whitland to get down. Matthew, back after an injury, played a great match, carrying the ball forward at every opportunity and was rewarded with a well-deserved try. Elliot, a stalwart of the Tenby team, showed what great form he's hit this year with a lovely try under the posts after a couple of great side-steps - a lovely try. Joe D and Greg P shared kicking duties, both kicking well and being rewarded with two conversions. The forwards, as usual, had a great game, with Jack, Dylan and Cam rucking over the ball at every opportunity and passing out quickly to the backs. James and Adam both caught great lineout ball and tackled well. Dan, back in the team after a long absence, had some great jinky runs down the pitch and Ben, as always, showed everyone how tackling should be done. It really was another great game from Tenby, with great passing and tackling - the score showing that teamwork really does pay off. Well played boys. Tenby fielded: Jack Butler, Dylan Griffin, Cameron Wood, James Oakley, Adam North, Matthew Lewis, Rob Luly, Joe Dennis, Greg Palin, Joe Farrell, Elliot Randell, Greg Caine (capt.), Ben Thomas, Dan Storer, David Duckworth, David Dunfee.

TENBY U8s v WHITLAND U8s

Tenby Under 8s played host to Whitland last Sunday at a slightly boggy Clicketts. Two games were played: the first a seven-a-side game, with Tenby fielding their older and more experienced players; the second a 10-a-side affair, with the less experienced and younger Tenby players getting a run out. The first game started with each team sporting seven players, all of whom looked psyched-up and raring to go. From the kick-off possession was gained by Tom, who unselfishly linked up with Morgan to score the first try. Whitland came back strongly and it was only some heroic tackling by Bethan and Owen that prevented the away side from levelling the scores. From the resulting turnover ball, Daniel showed some strong running to go over for his first of the match. From the restart, Whitland spilled the ball, which was quickly pounced on by Donovan, who then passed the ball to Jacob, who showed great speed and agility to get over the whitewash. The game finished seven tries to three, in Tenby's favour. The second game, whilst being a slightly more congested affair with 20 players on a small pitch, was as an equally exciting match. Recent newcomer Harry put in a solid tackling performance, while Billy showed good flair with ball in hand. Powerful individual runs by both Max and Rhys resulted in tries. To their credit, Whitland showed great resolve and never gave up; unfortunately for them, Tenby were just too good on the day. The home side showed excellent organisation, both in defence and in attack; with good support play, determined tackling and accurate, unselfish passing. Try scorers included Daniel, Donovan, Jacob, Morgan, Max and Rhys, the final score being six tries to four in Tenby's favour. Tenby fielded: Daniel (capt.), Owen, Donovan, Tom, Jacob, Bethan, Morgan, Billy, Harry, Max, Rhys

TENBY SWIFTS U9s v WHITLAND U9s

This was the third outing of the season for the developing Under 9s team, played on a rain-sodden Clicketts last Sunday. Whilst they did not win, their performance was encouraging, particularly in the tackling department. The Swifts are learning and improving and held their more experienced visitors for long periods of the game and were unlucky to concede a few breakaway tries. Joe Criddle captained the side this week and led by example with some exciting dashes. Richard and William Lewis were not far behind in the running stakes and both brothers made some big tackles. Liam Berridge showed his strength in the mauls, as did Charlotte Carrier and Alex Thomas. Ben Roberts proved an elusive runner and Dylan Williams took on bigger opponents fearlessly. Daniel and Lewis Bridal played important roles in both the tight and the loose in the heavy conditions and will have enjoyed the game immensely. This is a developing team who are learning to play together as a unit and the parents and supporters will have noticed the gains made. It will take time, however, and patience is called for; the results will come. Tenby fielded: Joseph Criddle (capt), Richard Lewis, William Lewis, Alex Thomas, Daniel Bridal, Lewis Bridal, Liam Berridge, Dylan Williams, Charlotte Carrier and Ben Roberts. (Absent, Edward James, Luke Barrows, Callum and Jordan Strudwick).
