TENBY U14s 12 PEMBROKE 24

The Swifts knew that this was going to be their toughest game of the season up against Pembroke who they have yet to defeat.

It looked as if it might be the Swifts game, however, as they looked strong and determined and threw everything they had at Pembroke, with each and every player putting heart and soul into the game.

With 15 minutes of sustained pressure, the Swifts kept Pembroke in their own half and looked the dominant side. They launched attack after attack at Pembroke, which paid off with a fine Daniel Colley try to put the Swifts ahead 5-0.

The Tenby side thwarted each attempt by Pembroke to get back into the game, with excellent rucking and mauling and strong tackling by all.

Lloyd Wilson broke through the centre of the Pembroke attack, pushing the opposition away to score a great try, taking a couple of opponents over the line with him.

Adam Ball then kicked a fine conversion from a very difficult angle to bring the score to 12-0.

It looked like the Swifts were in the driving seat, when out of nowhere, on the counter-attack, came a burst of speed down the wing from Pembroke's Neil Williams which caught Tenby unawares and this resulted in a converted try.

Within minutes, an almost carbon copy move followed, which resulted in another converted try, bringing the score to 12-15 at half-time.

It was anybody's game, but Pembroke took the initiative and scored two more tries in quick succession, bringing the score to 12-24.

Tenby didn't let their heads go down, however, and again fought back, throwing themselves at Pembroke, who were having to defend to the hilt.

The Swifts looked like scoring on numerous occasions, but yet again their attempts were thwarted and unfortunately it wasn't to be, with the score at full-time remaining at 12-24.

It was agreed by all that this had been an excellent game to watch and that both teams had given their all.

A big well done to the Tenby side.

Thanks to Gareth Thomas for refereeing the game.
