Tenby’s historic St. Catherine’s Island is making it’s debut as a pop-up cinema next week.
Films4Tenby’s community cinema group, Rooms With a View, are adding Escape from Alacatraz to their list of film credits to be shown in the town.
Two screenings of the 1979 Clint Eastwood classic will be put on inside the 19th century fort, on Wednesday and Thursday, September 9 and 10.
And there can be no more suitable a venue than a building on top of an island for people to watch the story of an escape attempt from the infamous island prison in San Francisco Bay.
“Atmospheric experiences are what we set out to achieve,” said Kath Osborne of Rooms with a View.
“This is set to be the best yet,” she added.
Movie-goers are asked to be on the island by 7 pm and are reminded that access to the island is by steep steps only.
There will be a licensed bar and snacks available, and complimentary popcorn.
