Sir,

My husband and I recently visited Tenby for a few days during the week of the Tenby Arts Festival. We are frequent visitors to Tenby and will always visit during events as the Arts Festival, the Blues Festival, Ironman and so on. I would like to tell your readers about a truly wonderful show we attended on Saturday, September 30.

‘An Evening of Mindless Drivel’, we established on the night, is the brainchild of two Tenby authors, Nicky Lloyd and Lance Russell, and I am still lost for superlatives to describe this show which is like nothing I have ever witnessed before.

As a platform for Nicky and Lance’s crazy and chaotic comedy writing, and as a platform for a whole host of very talented artists such as Tenby legend Laurie Dale, who croons with the best of them and sets the show up nicely for what’s to come, it is perfect. Then there was professional storyteller Phil Okwedy, oh my gosh what a totally captivating performer, who doesn’t just tell his stories, he lives and breathes them and with each one he brings the audience along with him.

A lovely young couple called Maddy and Davey treated us to some excellent song covers and some original numbers and their short sets interspersed cleverly between the comedy sketches, storytelling, funny song parodies such as ‘Nights in with Statins’ and ‘Return to Tinder’ and a touchingly poignant performance poem by Nicky about his late father followed by a side-splitting poetry rant about August.

At the end of the night we asked Nicky who the actors were that featured in the comedy sketches and I would also like to thank Shane, Kate, Aly and Juliette, all of whom seem to be born for the stage.

Tenby, you really do have so much talent at your fingertips and on your doorstep, please make sure you appreciate and support these excellent performers in their future endeavours... We most certainly will.

Happy Show Goers,

Neath.
