Graffiti being sprayed on walls and buildings around the coastal town’s beaches has been prominent of late, and on Thursday, December 2, at approximately 7.30 pm, Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of two individuals suspected of causing criminal damage to the sea defences on Tenby beach, saw the local neighbourhood policing team reacted quickly to the reports.
With the help of an off-duty officer, PC Garland, apprehended two fifteen-year-old boys, with both arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.
Sergeant Stuart Wheeler said: “Our quick action hopefully highlights to our communities that we do take these issues seriously. Our officers are diligent and dedicated to protecting our communities around the clock.
“Enquiries are ongoing in this matter, but we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to these issues.”
Police in Tenby have received several reports of graffiti cropping up in the area over the last month, and the parents of the culprits responsible have been spoken to and appropriate action will be taken.
Most recently police appealed for any witnesses who may have seen criminal damage being caused by means of graffiti to a surrounding wall opposite St Catherine Island, where a large Sponge Bob Squarepants (smoking a cigar) had been sprayed.
Other areas targeted include walls at the far end of North Beach, the public toilets overlooking the beach, and an area leading down to the North Walk.
Pembrokeshire County Council maintenance staff have been conducting a spruce-up of areas hit over the past few days, where offending graffiti has been sprayed, with Tenby town council clerk, Andrew Davies commenting: “We are very grateful that they are cleaning it up.”
Anyone who needs to report anything in your area are asked to please contact police via their online reporting system at: https://orlo.uk/0oUGD or by calling 101.
