Last week was busy with both a Yellow Box Mid- week Medal and the May Monthly Medal. This week, Paul Haley and John Morris, also played Haverfordwest at South Pembs. Golf Club in the Victory Shield. Recently, the Cobb Cup and Regimental Bowl were reported, and now we have a photograph of the winners of the Cobb Cup and Regimental Bowl, John Morris and Richard Morton, with the Captain Bob Parsons. They both played very well on a difficult day for golf, and are to be congratulated.

Mid-week yellow box medal

The May Yellow Box Medal was played on Wednesday, May 25, on a glorious afternoon with some wind. This was shown in the scores. The winner was Dave Roberts with a very good net 61, second was Peter Watkins with a net 68 and a better back nine, third was Christopher Davies also with a net 68, and fourth was Philip Mumford with a net 70 and a better back nine. A total of 37 played and of those five had twos. They were Paul Fairclough, Viv James, Tony Morris, Philip Mumford and Dave Roberts (2).

May Monthly medal

The May Monthly Medal and Welsh Handicap qualifier was held on Saturday. It was a very difficult day for golf with rain early in and gale force winds throughout the day. This was reflected in the competition being reduction only, and even the best players on the day did not have their handicaps reduced. Players who have played the course for over 50 years commented that they had never played golf on a more difficult day. Thus, the winners of both divisions are to be congratulated. The Division One winner was Roy Howell with a net 74, second was Dan Cope with a net 75, third was Allan Morton with a net 76 and a better back six, and fourth was Richard Morton, also with a net 76. The Division Two winner was David Skyrme with a net 75, second was Ian Thomas with a net 70 and a better back nine, third was Jeff Haley, also with a net 70 and a better back nine, and fourth was Alan Yates also with a net 70. There were 91 competitors and of those three had twos. They were Allan Morton, Richard Morton and Peter Ellis.

Victory Shield

On Tuesday, Paul Haley and John Morris, played Haverfordwest at South Pembs. Golf Club and won against two very good players on the last hole with a long single put. Well done to Paul and John, and best luck in the next round which is the last 16.

Next week is Open Week and the club is looking forward to many visitors and a full week of golf .
