Every golf club captain hopes the weather will be fine for their captain's day and this year except for a little drizzle early on, the Tenby weather was at its best.

More than 50 members played and the excellent condition of the course combined with the fine weather meant good scores generally.

An excellent early evening supper was attended by more than 50 and it was good to see a number of members who no longer play, but maintain their interest in the club, together with many of our newer members who are most enthusiastic about their golf.

Having welcomed everyone, Mel Smith, the captain, presented many prizes to a wide cross section of the club:

36 handicaps: 1. Linda Thomas 37 pts; 2. Julie Lovett 35 pts; 3. Annette Flower 30 pts.

Cramb shines in the sun

A total of 77 players took part in the June monthly medal last Saturday. Twenty-five turned out in division one and 52 in division two.

One again the sun shone and the course looked a picture, but with hard bounces and growing rough, things were far from easy.

Not that it bothered Brian Cramb too much as he turned in an impressive display to earn the medal in division one, as well as a one shot reduction in handicap. His gross score of 72 matched the par for the course and was four shots better than anyone else.

Division two winner Robert Brown had to rely on a better back nine to earn his medal, as he just edged out Robin Hagley on countback. He also saw his handicap cut from 21 to 20, while as a result of his round, Robin's has dropped by two, from 14 to 12.

Leading scores and prize winners were as follows:

Division One: 1. Brian Cramb 72-2-70 (medal plus £37); 2. Neil Lovatt 79-8-71 (£27); 3. Michael Schooling 78-6-72 (£17.50); 4. John Gottwaltz 77-4-73, after countback (£9.50); 5. Chris Hughes 81-8-73 (£6).

Division Two: 1. Robert Lawson Brown 92-21-71, after countback (medal plus £37); 2. Robin Hagley 85-14-71 (£27); 3. Neil Webb 87-14-73, after countback (£17.50); 4. Rob Hall 88-15-73, after countback (£9.50); 5. Mike Brew 91-17-74 (£6).
