The final 'Frostbite Friendly' of the year was played on Sunday. A field of 24 competitors took to the course and it was pleasing to see a number of new faces on this occasion. Indeed, this was the largest turnout this year for a non major mixed competition.
We started out in bright sunshine on a beautiful Tenby day. I keep saying it can't last... the weather, however, continues to shine on the righteous! Well it was a Sunday after all.
Played over a shorter course this time, due to the previous week's frosty conditions, the pars and birdies rolled in. Like November, we also decided to play this 14-hole competition as a Greensomes rather than the more taxing Foursomes.
Now to the results. Third place, with a score of 36pts, went to Helen Hughes and John Gilman (£10). Second place, with an excellent score of 38 pts, went to Fair Ball and Gill John (£16). The winners with a very good (amazing) score of 42pts were the dynamic duo of Laura McQueen and Nigel Rimell (£22) - remember this was only a 14-hole competition!
There was only one 'two' recorded on the day, by Laura McQueen and Nigel Rimell, at the 12th hole (£6).
Finally, to complete proceedings, a number of card draws were made and these were won by Trevayne Keohane and Eve Heyhoe, Dinah Reed and John Ball and Kimberley Davies and Bill Davies (£3 each).
Thanks go to the Pro Shop for managing the entries and handing out the cards. Also to Steve and his staff for the catering arrangements.
The next mixed event is the Charity Four Ball Better Ball on Tuesday, December 28. If you're interested, be aware that there are only a couple of places left for this very worthwhile competition.
A very merry Christmas to everyone from the Mixed Section.
