June monthly medal

My apologies to division two, results for which were omitted from last week's report, especially as there was such a fine effort by young Michael Neville, who won the medal with a net 62!

June

mid-week medal

The mid-week medals continue to attract a good entry. Forty-three members competed in this one, but only five golfers were able to break 80 gross!

Oliver Duckett, who usually appears in 'the frame', failed to return a score this week, but won the jackpot by being the only player to manage a two!

Results: 1. Roger Schooling 79-11-68 (£25 credit and medal); 2. Billy Farrell 74-5-69 (£15 credit); 3. Richard Gwyther 94-24-70 (£10 credit); Jamie Preston 77-5-72; Adam Joseph 79-7-72; Gary McNeilly 80-8-72; Tony Morris 86-14-72.

Juniors win over Ladies Section

Sunshine brought the crowds down to Tenby last Saturday. At the last count, 45 juniors turned up for the practice session, much to the shock of Ian, who has told Julia that she is no longer allowed away on a Saturday!

Holly Watkins and Sam Macro kindly helped out and were in charge of chipping, with newcomer Curtis Hurlow doing really well, as well as Greg Lees Griffiths, Hugo Wellum, Sophie John, Georgia Thomas, Jack and Jordan.

Simon also did chipping, but set the juniors a harder challenge, by chipping off the bank! With their feet all over the place, the juniors did really well and proved they could cope with most situations, which will help them when they get out on the course!

George Lander, Daniel Worley, Sam Morgan, Ollie Worley, Shelby Rossiter and Alex Davies seemed to shine out of this group and Simon awarded them a 'very, very good'! The rest of the group also played well and nobody was awarded less than a 'good'!

Gill and Mary had their group chipping into umbrellas. Not an easy task, but all their group did extremely well. There were a lot of children who HTH - hit the handle - and a number who hit UTU - under the umbrella! The group had a lot of fun, and a mention to Rhys Lewis, Bethany Duckworth and Sam Baxter who all showed great promise.

Ian had his group putting and told them to try and get the ball as close as they could to the hole. Tom McLoughlin, Greg Lees Griffiths and David Webb went one better and holed out! Megan Macro and Katie Rees did well, as did Toby Rossiter.

Tomorrow (Saturday) we are back to normal, with a group from 9 to 10 am and another, 10 to 11 am. Those of you with Golf Foundation cards, make sure you bring them with you!

Last Sunday, the juniors proved that their practice sessions had paid off! They took on the ladies in a matchplay competition and won eight matches out of the 10. From what I hear, many matches were hard fought and one in particular went to the 18th green, much to the excitement of the ladies and juniors!

The ladies were very impressed with the standard of golf and the juniors are very grateful to them for giving up a Sunday to play.

They all look forward to the re-match next year.

Sunday is a stableford competition - don't forget to sign-up and pay your money into the shop. Cards are to be put into the Junior box.
