Captain's Day at Tenby was on Saturday. It was a very good day for golf, with sun all through the day. There was a record entry of 132 for the competition, and a record fund-raising effort for the captain's charity, Noah's Ark Appeal. The format for the day was Stableford. Ladies' winner was Pam Cole with 40 points, second was Gillian Roberts with 39 and third was Ann Folland with 37. Men's winner was Ben Blake with 39 points, second was Paul Hoyland with 38 and third was Mervyn Tucker with 35 and a better back nine. The Junior winner was David Webb with an excellent 23 points over nine holes. A total of 17 competitors had twos. The ladies' longest drive was by Georgia Thomas, who is a junior, the men's longest drive was by Paul Heywood and closet to the pin on the sixth hole was Chris Beecher. Over 100 people attended the BBQ and prize-giving at the end of the day and the captain was very grateful to members of the club for making it such a memorable day. The icing on the cake was that the club raised £1,757 for the Noah's Oak appeal, through the entry fee, a raffle and an auction. This was the highest sum raised by the club for a charity - a fitting end. The R & A Cup was held on Wednesday. It was a foursomes competition with a shotgun start and will be reported on in the next report. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Fitchett Bowl - a bogey/par competition, where each of us will play the course.

The captain’s charity was Noah’s Ark Appeal and through the entry fee, a raffle and an auction, the club raised an impressive £1,757. The photograph shows the captain, David Leeke (right), presenting the money to the club secretary David Hancock, to forward to the Noah’s Ark appeal. The money will be used to help with Phase II projects for the children’s hospital. The major projects are a teenage cancer unit, a paediatric eye clinic and a private garden for the children and their parents.
