Tenby Girls entered Under 11 and Under 16 sides in the League Tournament held at Goodwick last Sunday.

The Under 11s played Pennar and Goodwick twice in their group. With several players missing, through illness and injury, the young Tenby girls competed well and improved as they went along.

Jade Rowell played well in goal and made several impressive saves. Gabriella Fecci and Ella Harley defended well, with Dazy Lloyd and Chloe Wilson chasing well up front. Both scored good goals, to the delight of the loyal supporters. The girls did very well against bigger and stronger opposition.

Results were: Tenby 1 (Chloe Wilson) Pennar 5; Tenby 0 Goodwick 4; Tenby 1 (Dazy Lloyd) Pennar 2; Tenby 0 Goodwick 1.

The Under 16s played some stunning football, easily winning their group and reaching the semi-final.

Lori Amos played superbly in goal, with Jess Webb controlling the defence alongside Maisie John. Sophie Izzard and Darcy Escott passed well together, beating defenders neatly and setting up Holly Furlong and Christina Smith for many shots. Holly was the tournament's top scorer with 10 goals.

Results: Tenby 7 (Holly Furlong 6, Sophie Izzard 1) Clarbeston Road 0; Tenby 2 (og, Holly Furlong) Goodwick 0; Tenby 4 (Jess Webb, Holly Furlong 3) Clarbeston Road 0; Tenby 1 (Darcy Escott) Goodwick 1.

The girls met Pennar in the final and played superbly.

Holly had a long range shot early on, which rocked the crossbar, with Sophie's follow-up shot just inches away. Darcy and Maisie controlled the midfield and Jess was solid in defence.

Pennar broke away against the run of play and scored late on in the game.

Tenby did everything they could to get back into it and after receiving a long ball from Lori Amos, Christina Smith looked like she had scored the equaliser, only to see the ball cruelly hit the crossbar again.

Tenby had to be content with runners-up medals, despite their superb performance.

Well done to Sophie Izzard, who was named player-of-the-day for the Under 16s competition.
