TENBY U10s B 0 LAMPHEY 4

Despite the wet winter conditions, Tenby hosted this much anticipated top of the table clash against an in-form Lamphey side. Straight from kick off, Lamphey piled on heavy pressure, but they met a well organised and disciplined Tenby side who came into this game boasting a 100 per cent unbeaten record. Lamphey's early pressure created numerous chances, but Tenby's organised defence of Daniel Tiesing, Henrik Jaakola and Ryan Kent, put in a series of well timed interceptions to deny Lamphey a scoring opportunity time and time again. Tenby's midfield combination of Luke Hartland and Adam Muskett worked well and was a constant menace to Lamphey. Tenby had some good early chances and both teams were evenly matched. Liam Bowen collected a great pass from Adam Muskett and after some fine running at the Lamphey defence saw his shot go just inches wide of goal. Another well-timed pass from Liam Bowen onto Adam Muskett was fumbled out by the Lamphey defence. Tenby kept pushing forward and again, it was Adam Muskett who was at the heart of the Tenby attack. A clever pass onto Dylan Price saw the striker deliver a cheeky pass on the turn, into the path of Liam Bowen whose shot went wide. Lamphey continued to push forward with some strong breaks which troubled the Tenby defence. Catching Tenby on the break, the Lamphey attack unleashed a powerful shot on the Tenby goal where Will Davies was at hand to put in an outstanding save to deny Lamphey yet again and keep the score line 0-0 at half-time. The second half started with continued intensity with Lamphey driving forward from the whistle. Joel Downs was brought on to strengthen the Tenby defence who was immediately thrown into action making a series of crucial tackles. However, Tenby were equal to the Lamphey pressure and after another timely interception from the Tenby defence saw Adam Muskett break forward to set-up a great flowing movement by the Tenby side. Adam Muskett laid on a smooth pass to Dylan Price who in turn passed out wide to Luke Hartland who then drove forward, delivering in a pin-point cross onto Sean Conbeer who was desperately unlucky not to score and break the deadlock, but forced a corner. On the break, Lamphey surged forward in numbers and after a series of clearances by the Tenby defence saw a loose ball spill out to Lamphey who shot in the first goal to make it 1-0 to Lamphey. A string of fine saves from Will Davies kept the score at 1-0 with Tenby's determination stronger than ever. A long clearance from Will Davies saw Dylan Price break free from midfield and cleverly chip the ball over the Lamphey defence, but it was well collected by the 'keeper. More pressure from Lamphey saw the ball in the Tenby half for longer periods and after a scuffle in the Tenby area, Lamphey just managed to pick up a loose ball making it 2-0 to the visitors. With Lamphey's confidence growing they pushed forward again showing some clever play which troubled the Tenby defence. However, a series of well-timed interceptions by Daniel Tiesing constantly frustrated the Lamphey attack and showed Tenby's determination to push forward. Luke Hartland picked up the ball in the Tenby half and passed onto Adam Muskett who produced a fine run at the Lamphey defence. Lamphey pressed forward with a long shot being unluckily deflected in-front of Will Davies who was well placed to save the initial shot but saw the ball go into the Tenby goal to make the score 3-0 to the visitors. Tenby continued to drive forward with some great runs from Sean Conbeer on the left hand side highlighting Tenby's determination and strength, a clear factor in their second position in the league table. Liam Bowen produced a clever piece of skill, flicking up a long pass from Adam Muskett and passing forward to create another Tenby attack which forced a corner from the visitors. Another long clearance from Lamphey put Tenby under pressure with Lamphey just edging a shot past Will Davies to push the score to 4-0. With time running out, Tenby still continued to push forward and show their determination with a back heel from Dylan Price into the path of Liam Bowen but was well read by the Lamphey defence. All credit to a determined and well organised Tenby side who battled right to the final whistle clearly showing that the score-line didn't truly reflect the performance and determination of the home side. Many thanks to Park Road Fish and Chips, the Tenby Under 10s kit sponsors, and to all the parents who braved the wet conditions for their positive support and encouragement. TENBY U12s 17 GOODWICK UTD. U12s 0 Miserable weather and a late kick-off as the Manorbier Stores and Post Office sponsored team welcomed Goodwick to their first league encounter at the Clicketts. From the kick-off, Tenby were firmly in the driving seat, but it still took them some time to get off the mark. Jack eventually opened the scoring after about 10 minutes and from then on, it was an exercise in addressing that all-important goal- difference point. Tenby were honestly never under pressure, the ball rarely leaving the Goodwick half, and it was a secure 8-0 lead at half-time. With Neil W departing to the 'Links' at the interval, Neil P took over the whistle as Tenby continued to dominate the second half. Rarely having to move above second gear, Tenby continued to run the game. Scott, much to the delight of the, by now, large throng of spectators, solidly blocked a breakaway Goodwick forward, but that was about all the action the Tenby goal area saw. Grotty weather 'til the end, but Tenby ran out the eventual, comfortable, winners. A welcome return to the goal-scoring list for Elliot who netted five - which Rooney attempted to emulate later in the day; Jack and Dan bagged four apiece; Toby grabbed two and Sam and Hugo both picked up one. A bit of a revelation was Rhys, enjoying his football at last, playing on the left side midfield/wing - a relentless tackler, with a great turn of pace and a fairly lethal shot, coming close on several occasions. A new secret weapon? With their young coaching team, Goodwick should take heart from a great performance from their stand-in (according to his mum!) goalie. He prevented the score from being 20 something nil, trying all the time to spur his team-mates into more spirited action. A comfortable, well-earned, victory, but nonetheless entertaining from the sidelines. Tenby gelled together well and given space and time on the ball, their skill and goal scoring ability came to the fore. Thanks to Simon - a happy coach at last, the two Neils, our sponsors and, finally, our supporters. Squad: Adam Conbeer, Scott Cowan, Corey Morris, Tom Grover, Sam Butler, George McBeth, Cheyne Lloyd, Hugo Wellum, Toby Rossiter, Jack Murphy, Rhys Nicholas, Elliot Goldsmith, Daniel Fairlie.
