NEYLAND U14s 0 TENBY U14s 8
The Willow Carpentry sponsored Tenby Under 14s stuttered their way through this game against a very young Neyland side, who have conceded 41 goals in their first three games. Tenby started the game full of fire and were two goals to the good after five minutes when first, William Thomas hit an unstoppable shot from 10 yards, and then Aaron Roberts followed suit from a similar position. But then the fire dwindled to just a flicker, as no matter how hard they tried, the Seasiders couldn't find the back of the goal. Neyland battled courageously through the first 35 minutes, hardly venturing outside their half and made it difficult for their opponents. But Tenby, with all the ball possession they had, should have been home and dry by the interval. They did manage another goal just before the break, when Roberts headed home from a Patrick Elliott corner. The second half was as desperate as the first with chances missed left, right and centre and frustration setting in. However, Ashley Smith got two, Phil Horsley and Jordan Richards got one apiece and Thomas grabbed his second to add a bit of respect to the scoreline. Tenby also hit the woodwork on four occasions. Tenby will certainly have to pull their socks up when they meet the top sides in the league and hope this performance was just a bad day at the office. Tenby side: J. Roberts, G. Lees-Griffiths, P. Elliott, C. Hurlow, D. Edwards, P. Horsley, W. Thomas, J. Richards, A. Smith, A. Roberts, G. Warlow, A. Heesom, R. Fairlie, O. Worley. TENBY U11s 2 HUNDLETON 1
Tenby U11s met Hundleton in their first fixture of the season. Tenby started off sluggishly, and Hundleton broke through on several occasions. Ryan Hill in goal kept the shots out, while Robert Davies, Jacob Dent and Nathan Wilson tackled well. Brandon Taylor-Monaghan had to work hard in midfield with James Bridges and Richard Tebbutt providing the wide play. Jerome Mansbridge opened the scoring, but Hundleton replied almost straight away. Lloyd Hughes and Ellis Morgan opened up the game when they came on and Tenby went close to scoring several more goals. The Hundleton 'keeper was outstanding in goal and made some very brave saves. Ryan Price fitted in well at defence and Tenby started to play more attacking football. In the second half, Luke Conbeer went in goal with Ryan Hill showing he is an outfield player as well. As time went on, Tenby piled on a lot of pressure and it wasn't long before Mansbridge scored again. Tenby looked the stronger side in the last quarter of the game, but were denied more goals by the oppositions 'keeper. Tenby: Jerome Mansbridge, Richard Tebbutt, James Bridges, Nathan Wilson, Robert Davies, Ellis Morgan, Ryan Hill, Brandon Taylor-Monaghan, Luke Conbeer, Lloyd Hughes, Ryan Price, Jacob Dent.
Pennar Robins Under 10s B 1 Tenby Under 10s A 1
Tenby A had to settle for a point at Pennar after an exciting end-to-end match in their opening fixture of the Pembrokeshire Under 10s South League. The Robins took a shock lead in the first minute when a long free kick from the right was headed into the top left corner of the Tenby goal. This early set back briefly took the wind out of the Seasiders sails, and the visitors were pinned back by Pennar as they adapted to a new three-three- one formation. As the half progressed, the sides looked evenly matched, with both sets of players working hard to keep the ball on the deck and retain possession. Although a few stray balls were intercepted, both teams had clearly raised their game a notch since the previous season and stuck to their passing game. Following a few minutes of midfield stalemate, Tenby's patience finally paid off when centre back Owen Coombs swept a long, low pass deep into the Pennar half. Scott Ferney latched onto the ball and made a surging run down the right before unleashing a spectacular 20 yard lob over the Pennar 'keeper to level the scores. Just before the break, Tenby had a good chance to take the lead when another slick passing move from the back put Declan Escott free on the right. His angled shot forced a great diving save from the keeper, who parried the ball behind for a corner. In the second half, Tenby looked much more settled. Right-back Tom Harries pushed forward with greater confidence, and Spencer Williams made several probing runs down the left wing, while Tom Dyson and Dylan Rees began to dominate a fiercely contested midfield battle. Up front for Tenby, Declan Escott went close with two long range efforts and Tom Dyson launched a cracking strike from midfield that sailed just wide. At the other end of the field, Daniel Evans comfortably handled a couple of through balls, but otherwise faced little threat to his goal. Mid-way through the half, Kim Parmanand came on and acquitted himself well in the unfamiliar role of right back. The team will be sorry to see him go. In the final minutes, Tenby pushed hard for a winner and created more chances. Owen Coombs sprinted upfield for a corner. He rose above the Pennar defence, but skimmed his glancing header wide of the target and at the end of an entertaining game, both sides deserved their share of the spoils. Pennar Robins are currently fighting a proposed housing development on a significant portion of their home ground. The Robins have worked hard for many years to build a successful club with some of the best pitches in the county. With soccer increasingly popular among local boys and girls of all ages, the threatened bulldozing of the playing field would be a terrible loss for Pembrokeshire football and youngsters in Pembroke Dock. The team wish the club every success in saving this vital community facility for future generations. Thanks to Pennar for another great game on an excellent surface that enabled both sides to play to their full potential. Thanks also to Park Road Fish and Chips, the current kit sponsors of the Tenby Under 10s team.
TENBY U9s 3 kilgetty u9s 0
The Andrew Price sponsored U9s kicked-off the new season with a hard0earned 3-0 win over local rivals Kilgetty. Tenby played their two new summer signings, Jack Parkinson and Rhys Davis, along with some of the familiar faces from last season. Adam Davidson stepped into goalkeeper duty in the absence of regular 'keeper Natty John, and the defensive partnership of Harry Goforth and Ben Howells stood up to all that a strong Kilgetty attack could throw at them. The midfield looked strong with Jack and Jordan Cornick making good runs into the Kilgetty half. The forward line also worked hard and the passing between George Taylor, Frazer Finlay and Rhys Davis was excellent, and with Billy Truman, Malley Paxton and Ryan Townsend, coming on for Tenby, the squad this season looks very strong indeed. The first goal came late in the first half, and from plenty of Tenby pressure, a mix up in the Kilgetty penalty area saw a shot from Billy hit Jack and squeeze in off a Kilgetty defender. The second was a good team goal. Harry ran onto a loose ball in his own half, played it up the line for Rhys to play a lovely ball into George's feet. He played a one-two back to Rhys who fired a low shot past the Kilgetty 'keeper. The third came minutes later and hard-work from Frazer and Billy who both seemed to be full of running put pressure on the Kilgetty defenders. Malley picked up to ball and with one man to beat, played a great ball to George who let fly with an excellent shot from outside the box. But credit to Kilgetty, they pushed Tenby right to the end and Adam made some fine saves later on. This was an excellent game and credit to both teams and well supported by both Tenby and Kilgetty. Tenby team: Adam Davidson, Ben Howells, Harry Goforth, Billy Truman, Jordan Cornick, Malley Paxton, Frazer Finlay, Rhys Davis, George Taylor, Ryan Townsend, Jack Parkinson.
