Tenby U9s A 4 Prendergast Villa U9s 1

Tenby made it three on the trot in the Pembrokeshire league with an impressive victory over Prendergast Villa at The Clicketts.

The pitch had dried well after the mid-week deluge, and with clear blue skies and a light breeze, the conditions were perfect for two strong teams to display their skills. And they didn't disappoint.

During the summer tournaments, Tenby were twice narrowly beaten by the talented Villa youngsters, who are playing up a year. And they were determined to make amends.

As the half progressed, Tom Dyson and Jannik Koop began to win more possession in midfield, and the visitors defence looked vulnerable to attacking runs from Scott Ferney and Dylan Rees.

The breakthrough came after 10 minutes when Dylan Rees latched onto a long ball out of midfield. He took on a defender and cracked home a low volley that left the 'keeper with no chance.

The home side were soon two-up when another long shot from Dylan Rees was palmed away by the 'keeper and Dylan Price was on hand to slot in the loose ball.

The middle of the game was evenly contested with both teams having chances to score either side of half-time. For the first time this season, the Tenby goal was put under sustained pressure. However, the defensive duo of Spencer Williams and Owen Coombs looked solid as ever, even though they were outnumbered at times.

James Brace also had an excellent game, deputising in goal, and his long kicks helped the home side to regain their momentum. Mid-way through the second half, a Tenby break led to a corner, which was volleyed home by Scott Ferney to make it 3-0. Tenby's fourth goal followed the best move of the game. A long pass out of defence by Owen Coombs was flicked onto Dylan Price. He ran past two players before putting in a low cross, which was fired home by Dylan Rees.

Almost straight away, the visitors got one back, after a throw-in was intercepted. This heralded an exciting end-to-end finish, with both sides eagre to score again. However, Spencer Williams continued his commanding performance at the back, and the best late chance fell to Tenby's rapidly improving striker, Dylan Price, whose shot was well saved by the Villa 'keeper.

Thanks, as always, to the supporters of both sides and to the Under 9s kit sponsors, Park Road Fish and Chips.

TENBY U11s 5 KILGETTY U11s 1

No game last Saturday, so a report from the first game of the season.

After their emphatic victory in the pre-season St. Clears Sevens, the Londis at Manorbier Stores and Post Office sponsored team welcomed visitors Kilgetty in their first league outing of the season. An evenly matched first half, with both sides going close in an open game, saw Tenby having to do something about the 0-0 scoreline. This they did straight from the second half kick-off.

A lovely run from Tom K. on the right provided a low pass across goal which Elliot knocked home to set the boys on their way. Minutes later, Jack picked up the ball on the half-way line and after a great solo run, slotted the ball home.

Another gem from Tom K., this time connecting with David who tapped the ball home for number three. With cries of "don't lose the ball", followed by shrieks of "pass, pass," from the touchline, Hugo calmly thwacked the ball against the upright for David to collect the rebound and score the fourth. With the game being controlled very much by Tenby, Kilgetty scored a breakaway goal against the run of play and finally Elliot quietly booted home number five.

A flowing game with some good performances, notably the Kilgetty goalkeeper, whose agility prevented Tenby's goal tally from being even greater.

Thanks to coach Simon, debutante timekeeper Cathy, sponsors and supporters.

Squad: George McBeth, Sam Butler, Corey Morris, Toby Rossiter, Hugo Wellum, Elliot Goldsmith, Jack Murphy, David Webb, Rhys Nicholas, Tom Koop, Daniel Fairlie and Nathan Farmiloe.

HUNDLETON U16s 1 TENBY U16s 24

Tenby completely out-played a well organised Hundleton side, showing a remarkable brand of football, particularly in the first half hour. They scored right from the start with the home side making the score 3-1 after 15 minutes. A forward for Hundleton hit Richard Thomas's crossbar with a tremendous shot in the first half, but after that it was one-way traffic with Tenby leading 12-1 at half-time.

In the second half, the Hundleton goalkeeper brought off some tremendous saves to stop Tenby adding to the scoreline for 15 minutes. Then the home team's resistance was broken and Tenby scored at regular intervals up to the final whistle. Tenby scorers were: Mikey Boswell 9, Sam Christopher 4, Brett Evans 3, Adam Johns 3, Scott Helmich 3, Billy Vaughan and Josh Bevan.

Tenby squad: Richard Thomas, Henry Boot, Joe Scourfield, Brett Evans, Kurt Walsh, Scott Helmich, Aaron Goldsmith, Josh Bevan, Adam Johns, Mikey Boswell, Sam Christopher, Billy Vaughan, Luke Dedman, Rhys Winter. Tenby players-of-the-match: Brett Evans and Scott Helmich. Thanks to Darryl for running the line.

TENBY U14s 7 HERBRANDSTON U14s 0

Tenby kicked-off this game against the wind which proved to be a bit of a mistake because with that and the way Herbrandston decided to play this game it was difficult for Tenby to break them down.

Tenby put together some good moves down the wings, but the strikers could not capitalise on the crosses. Herbrandston, with the aid of the wind, just kept lofting the ball all the way back to the Tenby 'keeper which was frustrating the Tenby midfield.

Herbrandston managed to hold Tenby to a draw at half time, but with change round came the wind, now at Tenby's back, which they made full use of. The Tenby midfield passed the ball around nicely to open up the Herbrandston defence allowing the first of seven goals.

The Tenby defence did not have as much to do in the second half, allowing the coaches to move the subs on without too much repositioning of players. The second half was played at Tenby's pace allowing them to dictate the play. Tenby in the second half were never threatened and ran out comfortable winners.

Tenby squad (including subs): Luke Hamilton, Lewis Hodgson, Joe Richards, Tom Powell, Lloyd Thomas, Billie Davies, Alex Harley (capt.), Callum Proctor, Alex, Tom Nicholas, Lewis Davies, Daryl Mansbridge, Ross Gray, Tom Baker. Thanks to Charles and Remmi for coaching the boys.

TENBY U12s 2 NEYLAND 0

Tenby Under 12s came out on top of this game thanks to goals from Nia and Sophie I. Tenby had chance after chance, but were always up against a formidable defence who seemed to have numbers behind the ball at all times. Rhiannon was a spectator with nothing to do.

With plenty of the ball, Mollie and Maisey worked well with plenty of help from Cloe. A pass from Marie and cross from Sophie set-up Nia for the first goal, then after breaking down the middle, Kelly passed to Sophie B. who knocked a ball onto Sophie I. whose shot was too much for the Neyland 'keeper. This was a well deserved three points for Tenby.

TENBY U12s 0 GOODWICK 2

An early goal from a good move saw Goodwick take the lead, which this seemed to knock Tenby off their stride, but they were soon on the attack. However, Goodwick were a match for all Tenby had to offer them. Nia, Sophie and Maisey worked hard, but it wasn't their day. Mollie, Marie and Kelly were the busiest players and Rhiannon was called into action on regular occasions.

Sophie I. and Cloe were lively, but closed down as soon as they had the ball, Sophie B., who improves every game, tried as did all the Tenby girls, but they were caught out when pushing for the equaliser by a long ball which the Goodwick forward slotted home for their second. It was a good game, but no points for the girls.

Girls U10s

Tenby Under 10s met Monkton in their first match. They won 2-0 with Lois Horsley scoring both goals. The first came from a long shot that flew into the top corner, while the other was a tap-in after a good move involving Becky Gwyther, Bethan Osborne and Lois. Beth Morse was once again safe in goal. Both Hari Truman and Alise Robinson played well and Sarah Jackson chased the ball well after she came on.

Their second game was against Clarbeston Road. They went 2-0 up through Lois and Ossie, before Clarbie pulled back a consolation goal making the final score 2-1 to Tenby.

Squad: Beth Morse, Lois Horsley, Hari Truman, Becky Gwyther, Bethan Osborne, Alise Robinson, Sarah Jackson. Thanks to Pete for running the team.
