COLTS U16s 1

TENBY U16s 6

Tenby Under 16s, sponsored by Willow Carpentry, advanced in the West Wales Youth Cup with this excellent win over the Colts. Played at the third time of asking, due to the bad weather, Tenby took the game to the Neath-based team from the outset and played some entertaining football.

Declan Carroll got them on their way when he flicked in Ashley Andrews's corner and Tenby increased their lead when a long throw by Will Thomas was headed on by Carroll for Ashley Smith to fire in.

Jordan Richards and Jason Finnegan controlled the midfield, while the Tenby defence of Alex Heesom, Dan Edwards, Greg Lees-Griffiths and captain, Curtis Hurlow stopped any Colt attack in its infancy.

Tenby never let up in the second half and scored within minutes of the restart when Andrews's cross was put away by Thomas at the far post. Greg Lees-Griffiths ventured up field and played a neat one-two with Andrews, before hitting his shot inside the near post.

Man-of-the-match Jordan Richards scored after a typical solo run, but Cwrt Herbert had the last say, when they scored with the last kick of the match.

Tenby's reward is another away trip to Glynneath.

Tenby side: J. Roberts, A. Heesom, G. Lees-Griffiths, C. Hurlow, D. Edwards, A. Andrews, J. Finnegan, J. Richards, D. Carroll, W. Thomas, A. Smith, A. Roberts, P. Elliott, L. Moreland, G. Warlow, R. Fairlie.

TENBY U16s 10

After the previous week's fine win in Neath, Tenby Under 16s, sponsored by Willow Carpentry, came back to Pembrokeshire football with a bump. This display against bottom of the table, Solva, was dreadful and the only good thing to come from it was they got the desired three points and a hatful of goals - just.

They started brightly enough when Greg Lees-Griffiths scored within the opening 10 minutes and Declan Carroll doubled their lead midway through the half, but that was it. The harder they tried, the worse they got. Credit to Solva, they battled all the way through and especially their goalkeeper.

However, with just under 15 minutes remaining, the Seasiders decided to play football again and slotted in eight goals. Ashley Smith helped himself to four, Greg Lees-Griffiths got two and Jordan Richards and Declan Carroll picked up one each.

Let's hope this is the only bad day at the office.

Tenby side: J. Roberts, L. Moreland, P. Elliott, C. Hurlow, R. Fairlie, A. Andrews, G. Lees-Griffiths, J. Richards, D. Carroll, W. Thomas, A. Smith.
