GOODWICK U13s 1 TENBY U13s 9 An early start, and a long journey, to our furthest away game, but who cared... the sun was shining, the team were fresh after several weeks' inaction and excellent chips beckoned on the return journey. After a long, mostly uphill, walk from the 'clubhouse' which had one or two supporters puffing, both teams shook hands before kick-off on a narrow, bumpy pitch. The amiable Goodwick coach produced a megaphone - a good way to be heard in the blustery conditions. Without a couple of players (and several strips!) Tenby were quickly into attack and it wasn't long before Elliot opened the scoring, which he added to shortly afterwards with a great lob. Nathan then announced his return to the starting line-up, grabbing a pass from Sam to find the back of the net. With George enjoying the February sunshine, Hugo produced his characteristic long-range effort to score and Elliot rounded off the half with his hat- trick. A comfortable lead took Tenby into the second half, players relaxed and the standard of play really could have been better, but they were winning! David scored first this half, then Goodwick got one back. Hugo, Nathan and David rounded off the day for the expected victory. Two high spots of note - first seeing Tom G back in action - nice one, and second, Joe's header on the goal-line! Fortunately, he didn't split open his headwound received during a fracas with a bun and a dustbin in a PE lesson - just as well, as he was on the 'injury/unavailable list'. Although not the greatest game to date, team spirit was high and all thoroughly deserved the 'chip stop' on the way back. Thanks to coach John, Ted on the line and the supporters. Team: George McBeth, Cheyne Lloyd, Tom Grover, Jake Cooke, Sam Butler (capt.), Hugo Wellum, Toby Rossiter, David Webb, Rhys Nicholas, Elliot Goldsmith, Nathan Farmiloe.

TENBY Under 9s 5 KILGETTY 0   Playing away on a lovely sunny, but bitterly cold morning, the Under 9s match against Kilgetty on Saturday, February 2, turned out to be a great game of football. The first half saw the Tenby boys defending well with some great runs by Ben Palin and Ryan Conbeer. The boys were controlling the ball well and there were some great shots on target by Danny Wainwright, Tom Murphy and Tom James just going wide. Elliott Moorhouse and Jack Broadhurst in defence made some great kicks down the line to ensure the ball stayed in the Kilgetty half and it wasn't long before there was a cracking goal by Toby Poole following a great run and pass from Ryan Conbeer.  Dominating the Kilgetty half, there were some great shots at goal by Tom Murphy and a cracking save by the Kilgetty goalkeeper denied Tom James.  It wasn't long before a great shot by Danny Wainwright enabled Ryan Conbeer to score putting Tenby 2-0 up going into half-time.  The second half proved as challenging as the first, and it wasn't long before a great goal by Tom Murphy slid the ball straight into the back of the net.  Defending and passing the ball well, enabled the boys to dominate the second half. Several attempts to score by Caie Elms, Ryan Conbeer, Ben Palin and Tom James made them ever more determined to hold on to their lead, and as the clock ticked, a well-deserved goal after some great play by Caie Elms put Tenby 4-0 up. They continued to defend well with some great football by all the boys. A top class save by James Harris denied Kilgetty. A quick pass from Toby earned Ben Palin a well-deserved fifth and final goal in the last few minutes of the game. As the whistle blew the final score stood at 5-0 to Tenby. Team: Ben Palin, Toby Poole, Ryan Conbeer, Elliott Moorhouse, James Harris, Danny Wainwright, Caie Elms, Tom Murphy, Jack Broadhurst and Tom James.  Thanks go to our ever dedicated coach Matt Broadhurst and thanks also to the parents for all their support.   TENBY U9s 1 CAMROSE 2

A gorgeous, bright, sunny day awaited the young Tenby side when they played at home at the Clicketts to Camrose. The boys knew it was going to be a tough and challenging match, as this was the only team to beat them last season. Tenby held their own in the first half, playing well together, keeping control of their passes and having a few cracks at goal. Tenby's first and only goal, however, came from Tom James, who blasted the ball into the back of the net with his strong right foot. Great runs came from Caie Elms and Danny Wainwright, as well as some challenging tackles from Tom Murphy and Elliott Moorhouse. The second half proved to be something of an eye opener for the Tenby side and, only a few minutes after the break, Camrose equalised. An ever-encouraging array of Tenby parents and supporters along the sideline kept the boys heads held high, encouraging them throughout the game. Great goalkeeping skills from James Harries played a vital role in the game. Tenby battled hard, with some fabulous runs and shots on goal from Ryan Conbeer and great defensive work from Sam Williams and Jack Broadhurst. Camrose, however, went 2-1 up and, although Tenby fought right until the end, it just wasn't to be. This young team should be proud of their efforts and look at it as a learning curve. Well done boys! A big thank you to Matthew Broadhurst, coach and referee for the day, Carl Wainwright for helping on the sideline, and to all the parents for their support as usual. Squad: Tom James, Tom Murphy, Caie Elms, Elliot Moorhouse, Jack Broadhurst, Sam Williams, Ryan Conbeer, Danny Wainwright, James Harries, Mathew Broadhurst (coach).

KILGETTY U8s 0 TENBY U8s 8

This was a local derby in every sense, with players and the capacity crowd tense from the kick-off after these sides drew 2-2 at the Clicketts earlier in the season. It was a competitive game, with the Tenby players showing how much they have improved this year. The whole team played well together, spraying some fine passes around the field and stretching the Kilgetty defence to breaking point. Goals were scored by Harry Cook (5) - including one overhead kick, Max Brindley - a contender for goal of the season, and Harrison Duckett (2), who is always looking to get his name on the scoresheet. Due to both teams having large squads, a second game was played, with Tenby again coming out victorious 4-0. Goals were scored by Harry Williams (2), Dylan Scotcher and Harry Johns. Well played to all boys who took part.

Camrose U8s 1 TENBY U8s 8

An undefeated Tenby team travelled to Camrose on Saturday who they narrowly beat earlier in the season. Tenby once again played some fantastic football. Iori Hicks was back in goal and, as well as making some fine saves, showed great footballing skill in providing important yardage from goal kicks. Tenby's defence of Ben Millward, Dylan Scotcher and Finlay Bowie tackled tremendously, with the midfield trio of Max Brindley, Harry Williams and Lewis Sarrionandia taking total control of the game, ensuring the up-front partnership of Harry Cook and Billy Lawrence enjoyed plenty of possession. After the first 10 minutes, the floodgates opened and goals galore came from Billy Lawrence (left foot, new yellow boots); Harry Williams 3 (can I keep the ball please gaffer); Harry Cook (only a 20- yard goal will do); Ben Millward (see defenders can score); and Lewis Sarrionandia (I was injured until I scored, boss). Well done to all boys; great improvements have been made since the start of the season.
