TENBY U10s B 1 LAMPHEY U10s B 3

Many of the Tenby home supporters could have been forgiven for thinking this was a yet another match against the league leaders, Lamphey A, on Saturday, when Lamphey B arrived strongly populated with many of their A team players to represent their B side. However, this did not deter the hosts, who were to put in another commanding display at the Clickets ground. It was evident from the start, though, that Tenby would have to battle hard against a greatly reformed Lamphey B side that they beat so convincingly on their recent last outing in the away fixture. Tom Harries displayed some fine covering play to spoil an early Lamphey corner and he moved the ball forward well for Tenby. Such sharp play was rightly rewarded when Tenby were awarded a free- kick just inside the Lamphey half. Sean Conbeer floated in a precision ball just ahead of Dylan Price, who chased it forward with pace, but was inches short of getting a touch on the ball as a goal looked a formality. Lamphey were quick to test Tenby's in-form 'keeper, Will Davies, with a stinging drive on goal. Reading the shot well, the 'keeper was in the air quickly and palmed the ball over the bar to make easy work of a somewhat dangerous shot on goal. As the corner was floated in, Jake Davies read the move well and cleverly took the ball away from Lamphey - passing out to Joel Downs who, under pressure, calmly controlled it before making a crucial clearance for Tenby. Luke Hartland was quick to pick up the delivery and his clever ball, swung in deep from the left, was met by Joseph Criddle, whose shot flashed past the Lamphey post. Tenby were unlucky to lose out on a loose ball in their area, with Lamphey seizing the opportunity by firing in a shot to give them a slim 1-0 lead as the half drew to a close. Ryan Kent was brought on for the second half to play along-side Daniel Tiesing and Jake Davies and was thrown into action by making an important early clearance into touch. Daniel Tiesing was razor-sharp in defence and rounded off an outstanding performance by storming across to meet the Lamphey attack with a fine sliding tackle to snatch the ball away and make play safe. Tenby were so unlucky when a half-cross across the face of the Tenby goal took a cruel deflection to hand Lamphey their second goal. As play re-started, Lamphey broke again, firing in a fine effort to give them a 3-0 lead. Tom Harries was a real asset in creating chances as Tenby pushed forward in search of a goal. Ryan Kent showed some clever play on the left, shielding the ball away from Lamphey to retain possession and give Tenby a deserved throw. Luke Hartland was strong moving forward as he weaved and cut his way through the Lamphey midfield. The winger displayed great strength and balance on the ball, playing a precision pass onto Dylan Price who in-turn, quickly picked out Joseph Criddle, whose power drive flashed just wide of the Lamphey goal. Tenby piled on the pressure and battled well down the left-hand side - their efforts rewarded with a throw-in deep in the Lamphey half. Joseph Criddle took the throw, which was long and deep, picking out Sean Conbeer. The winger showed great awareness, passing onto the team's top scorer, Dylan Price, who made no mistake in firing in Tenby's first goal - clearly highlighting his side's determination to take something from the game. All credit to Tenby who played so well as a team, with each player giving no less than 100 per cent against a much-improved and strong Lamphey B side. Many thanks to Park Road Fish and Chips, the Tenby Under 10s kit sponsors, and to all the parents for their positive support and encouragement.

GOODWICK UTD U12s 0 TENBY U12s 7 The Manorbier Stores and Post Office sponsored side travelled to the far north of the county for this away fixture. A clear blue cloudless sky with frost on the verges made this a wonderful early morning drive and everyone arrived in high spirits. The Fishguard Leisure Centre was the venue for this game, and what a fantastic community facility it is. After inflicting a heavy defeat on Goodwick at home, the team probably anticipated much the same on this occasion, but would it be? An early ball from Jack saw Dan, with a simple shot, open the scoring and one expected the floodgates to open immediately. But this was not the case and shot after shot was missed, over the bar, wide of the uprights and into the hands of the Goodwick goalie. The team became frustrated and niggly and lost shape and rhythm. Whilst Goodwick aren't among the best opponents in the league, they somehow managed to break the game down and Tenby struggled for long periods to achieve any kind of dominance. A corner from Hugo got through to D'Arcy on the edge of the box, who slipped the ball home, and the tide looked to have turned in Tenby's favour as Jack and Elliot scored one apiece. So 4-0 up at half-time and surely the goals would come in the second half. Hugo put a ball through to Dan, who scored his second, and Toby cracked one in to make it 6-0. Still Goodwick battled on and Tenby couldn't settle. The substitutes came on, the Goodwick goalie made a superb save and Sam grabbed a final goal. It was a victory for Tenby, but not a great one. Tempers were frayed towards the end as the team were frustrated not only by Goodwick, but also by themselves. Goodwick were rightly proud after the game as they had managed to restrict Tenby to seven goals - if some of those first half misses had gone in, one senses that they would still have taken it in their stride. But it was a glorious day for football and Tenby did come away with the vital points, so well done to you all. Unhealthy eating on the way home for several team members in Letterston - suppose you did deserve it! Thanks to coach Simon (the 'wheels' suited you!), Ted on the line, our sponsors and supporters. Team, just don't get so frustrated next time! Squad: Adam Conbeer, Scott Cowan, George McBeth, Cheyne Lloyd, Tom Grover, Sam Butler, Rhys Nicholas, Hugo Wellum, Toby Rossiter, Jack Murphy, D'Arcy Escott, Elliot Goldsmith, Daniel Fairlie, Nathan Farmiloe. HUNDLETON 0 TENBY Under 9s 1

The Andrew Price sponsored U9s headed to Hundleton on Saturday and enjoyed a well-earned victory over a physical and well-drilled Hundleton outfit. With the weather perfect for football, but the pitch a little heavy, Tenby kicked off and were straight at the Hundleton defence, with Adam and George marked well, but always finding space in a very congested half. The Tenby midfield trio of Malley, Billy and Jack worked non-stop to link up with the forward line, with Natty back in goal and the dependable back pairing of Ben and Harry. Hundleton tried to push out of their half, but could not seem to break through the solid Tenby side. There was a lot of strong challenges from both teams, but always fair, a credit to the boys. A move from a big goal-kick saw Malley pass the ball out to the right, where George pushed it past his marker and let fly from 20 yards into the bottom corner of the Hundleton net with the 'keeper well beaten. Now Rhys came on for Adam and was straight into the action with a trademark run, with Hundleton struggling to keep up with the speedster, but a fine save from the home side's 'keeper kept the score to 1-0 at half-time. The second half saw Tenby playing up the slope. Jack and Billy were at the centre of everything and, along with Malley, covered every inch of the pitch. Harry and Ben worked as hard as ever to keep the Hundleton forwards under wraps, but still had more to do that in previous weeks. As the game went on, Tenby had more chances as Hundleton tired and more space opened up for George, Adam and Rhys. Malley was unlucky not to score late on, along with Adam, who had a good header on target. Natty's kicking was good, but he was only troubled once or twice all game. As the game finished, it was Jack and Billy who had chances to make the score 2-0, but credit to the Hundleton 'keeper, who was brave early in the game and caught a boot in the face, but recovered and staked a claim for 'man of the match'. But with Tenby leaving with a 1-0 victory, the large travelling support may have had other ideas. Thanks to all the parents and again well done boys! Team: Natty John, Ben Howells, Harry Goforth, Malley Paxton, Billy Truman, Jack Parkinson, Adam Davidson, George Taylor, Rhys Davis.

CAMROSE U14s 1 tenby u14s 3

The Willow Carpentry sponsored Tenby Under 14s won this top-of-the-table clash against arch rivals Camrose and in their own backyard. This win now sees the Seasiders leap-frog over their opponents, only by virtue of a better goal difference. Tenby had almost a dream start within the opening two minutes when both Will Thomas and Ashley Smith had great chances to put their side ahead, but both fired wide. However, it was the Tenby back four of Greg Lees- Griffiths, Dan Edwards, Patrick Elliott and Curtis Hurlow who laid the foundation for this solid performance. Tenby maintained the pressure for long periods, which kept the home defence back-pedalling and created chances for Jordan Richards, Aaron Roberts, Gareth Warlow, plus Thomas and Smith. Unfortunately, none of them were converted. Just before the break, Tenby got the opening which they deserved. Greg Lees-Griffiths stole the ball inside his own half and quickly fed Phil Horsley, who in turn pushed it forward to Warlow. Warlow took on his defender and sent over a low cross from the bye-line and, although Thomas had overrun the ball, Smith followed in at the back post to side-foot it into an empty net. In the second period, the Seasiders continued to push Camrose back deep into their own half, but were made aware of the home threat, when they broke twice with speed, only to be stopped with some last-ditch tackles. Tenby's pressure and determination was rewarded when Smith collected a ball in the home penalty area, only to be pushed in the back and the referee had no alternative but to point to the spot. Up stepped captain Curtis Hurlow to hit a powerful shot into the roof of the net. Camrose showed why they were top of the table, when they pulled a goal back with a good shot from the edge of the box, which just evaded the reach of Jake Roberts in the visitors' goal. But Tenby kept calm and played their way back into the home half and produced two good chances which saw them hit the woodwork. They finally put the game to rest when Warlow beat the offside trap and used his pace to outstrip the Camrose defence. His cross was met by the six- foot-plus Thomas to head home from close range. This was a superb team performance from Tenby, which they must maintain for the last six games of the season, one of which will be the return match against Camrose. Tenby side: J. Roberts, G. Lees-Griffiths, C. Hurlow, P. Elliott, D. Edwards, P. Horsley, A. Roberts, J. Richards, A. Smith, W. Thomas, G. Warlow, R. Fairlie, A. Heesom, N. Jones.

TENBY U8s 7 PRENDERGAST VILLA U8s 0

Last Saturday morning, the Pembrokeshire Mortgage Centre sponsored Tenby team were home to Prendergast Villa. It was a good start from both teams, playing free- flowing football, with shots on target by Ben and Toby. A good run down the wing by Tom resulted in the opening goal for Tenby by Ryan. More pressure from the midfield put Caie Elms in a good goal-scoring position and he slotted it away past a despondent Villa 'keeper to make it 2-0 at the interval. Half-time changes saw James go out into the front positions and Jack B. into goal, with Ryan coming off for Daniel W. to enter the game. The second half saw more shots from Tom and Caie, but clinical finishing from Toby P. put Tenby three up in no time. All the team were now playing excellent football, with further goals from Toby (2), Daniel and James. Caie, Elliot and Toby produced a good display, as did all the battling team - well done to you all, only having lost one game so far this season! Thanks to Matt and Dale for help and all supporters on the line. Tenby team: Thomas Murphy, Jack Broadhurst, Ben Palin, Daniel Wainwright, Caie Elms, Elliot Moorhouse, James Harries, Toby Poole, Ryan. Coach - Matthew Broadhurst; referee - Dale Elms.
