TENBY U14s 0

ST. CLEARS U14s 0

The Manpower sponsored U14s played at the Clicketts against St. Clears on a very cold frosty morning.

It was in complete contrast to the performance of the week before; the Seasiders just never 'got going' and it was clear from the start that they were not up for it.

The first-half saw St. Clears dominating, with Tenby not able to get into the match at all and were very lucky to only be 0-1 down at half-time.

There were great expectations for the second-half after a sound motivational talk from coach Howard Ball. However, after the first 10 minutes, it was clear that Tenby just couldn't lift their game. St. Clears then went 2-0 up and then 3-0 to 4-0 in the space of a few minutes.

The game was lost, the boys tried to come back at St. Clears, but they had too much to do. Well done to St. Clears and back to the drawing board for Tenby. Hard luck boys, it happens to the best of them, look at Man U!

Squad: James Llewelyn, Ben Field-Thomas, Rhys Thomas, Muthalib Sofan, Johnny Wilson, Lloyd Wilson, Adam Ball, Sonny Phillips, Paul Rossi, Bruce Tasker, Carl Lewis, Luc Barford, Paul Griffiths, Andew Birch, Daniel Lynch.

MERLINS BRIDGE U14s 2

TENBY U14s 2

The Racecourse, Haverfordwest, was the venue for the game between the Manpower sponsored Under 14s and the Bridge Under 14s.

The Seasiders started briskly and within a minute Ben Field-Thomas scored a cracking goal from a free-kick, but unfortunately this was disallowed.

Tenby continued to dominate, so when the Bridge scored on the break, it was surprising to see them ahead.

The Seasiders continued to apply pressure, which paid off when Carl Lewis scored a fine goal, lobbing the ball over the 'keeper's head.

It was game on and both goalkeepers made a series of match-saving saves, with James Llewelyn in goal for the first time for the Seasiders doing himself and the team proud.

A penalty was then awarded to the Bridge just before half-time and they went 2-1 up.

The second-half again saw commitment all the way from both sides, which made for an exciting game to watch.

In particular, Muthalib Sofan shone, as did Paul Rossi, who had his best game to date. As for the rest of the team, they all gave an excellent performance with tremendous work rates.

Bruce Tasker made one of his 'trademark' breaks to find himself one-on-one with the goalie and he kept his head to slot the equaliser into the back of the net with five minutes to go.

The score remained 2-2 at the final whistle, which everyone felt was the correct result for this game, in which everyone concerned gave their all.

LADIES INDOOR

TOURNAMENT

Saundersfoot A 1 Tenby B 0: A determined performance by Tenby B in what looked like a good defensive display was spoiled by a good shot by Lorraine Henton. A flying save by Angela Nicholls in the Tenby goal kept the score down for a narrow win for Saundersfoot. Cally Roberts defended well throughout the game.

Carmarthen 0 Tenby A 2: Good movement off the ball by the Tenby players and the accurate passing of Carrie Slack gave them plenty of attacking opportunities. An in-form Nicola Aston cracked in a goal in each half which gave some reward for a team effort where Imelde Rossi impressed with some dangerous runs in the wide positions. Denise Powell looked safe in goal. Michaela Bevan and Selina Morgan came on at half-time.

Neyland 2 Tenby A 1: Nicola Aston gave her team a first-half lead, but things went wrong in the second-half when Sally James was sent off, and the remaining four could not contain an energetic Neyland team who scored two late goals to win an eventful match.

Carmarthen 2 Tenby B 0: This was another game where the lack of a goalscorer gave Tenby no reward for a good effort, even though Ani Nicholls came very close in the first-half and a penalty was missed. Tenby's shyness in front of goal turned to desperation, and a lack of sharpness in the defensive aspects of their play resulted in Carmarthen scoring twice to take the points.

Haverfordwest 4 Tenby B 0: Haverfordwest, looking the best team in the tournament so far, were made to work hard for this win and scored against the run of play in the first-half with a lob into the far corner of the Tenby net. Clare Dooley ran well up front and Hazel Sawyer worked hard both to defend and to try to go forward and pull a goal back. Goals from the experienced Cassie Bennett for Haverfordwest in the second-half put her team 4-0 in front, giving Tenby too much to do at the end.

Tenby's Famous £ Shop sponsored Tenby Ladies FC fielded the following squads:

A team: Denise Powell, Carrie Slack, Imelde Rossi, Sally James, Selina Morgan, Michaela Bevan, Nicola Aston.

B team: Angela Nicholls, Hazel Sawyer, Ani Nicholls, Cally Roberts, Clare Dooley.

GIRLS FOOTBALL

Tenby Under 12s A finished up as winners of the Indoor League with an incredible record. They won all their games and did not let in a single goal throughout the tournament. Well done.

Their first match was against Pembroke Boro. They won 4-0, with goals from Jade Manning, Jenna Wright and Nikki Furlong 2.

Leila May played well in goal, with Danielle Jones, Victoria Brace and Joanna Rowe solid outfield players.

Their second match was against Tenby Bs which they won 3-0, with Leila, Nikki and Jade scoring one apiece.

This was an excellent display by the whole squad and a well-deserved league title goes to them.

Squad: Jade Manning, Jenna Wright, Nikki Furlong, Danielle Jones, Victoria Brace, Joanna Rowe, Leila May, Jodie Fecci, Carly Brown.

Tenby B's fielded: goalkeeper - Sophie John, defence - Becka Mearns and Sophie Rees, midfield - Gracie Bevan and Lucy May, forwards - Nia Thomas and Bethan Roberts.

The team first played Saundersfoot which resulted in a 1-0 defeat for the Tenby side.

In their second game, they met the Tenby A team, who are a lot taller and older. The result didn't reflect the game, as Tenby Bs were unlucky not to score on several occasions.

Final result was a 2-0 win for the Tenby A team.

Have a good Christmas girls and come back fighting fit for the new season.

Thanks to parents for support and transport throughout the season so far! Thanks to Angie and Ann for all their hard work. Merry Christmas everyone!

Tenby Under 14s finished a disappointing fourth in the league after a very promising start. After a run of five defeats, the girls needed to improve their game in the last couple of weeks and this they did.

In their first game against Saundersfoot, their opponents scored first after several Tenby chances had gone begging.

Determination by the whole team meant that Annie Davies pulled one back to make it a respectable score.

Laura Wright played well in goal, with Penny Young, Liz Nicholas and Kaylie Davies tackling and marking well.

Their ssecond match was against winners of the league, Pembroke Boro.

Again Boro scored first against the run of play, but the Tenby supporters were overjoyed when Kaylie scored a brilliant equaliser.

Tenby had a lot of the play, but could not score the winner they really deserved.

Squad: Penny Young, Liz Nicholas, Annie Davies (capt.), Kaylie Davies, Lauren Wright, Rebecca Bevan, Kelly Furlong.

Coaches Angela and Ani Nicholls would like to thank the girls, parents, supporters and helpers who have transported and encouraged the girls throughout their training and matches. They deserve their well-earned lie-in on Sunday mornings for a few weeks! The next league will commence after Christmas when Tenby will enter three Under 12 sides and an U14s side. Happy Christmas to all players and their families.
