Two controversial planning applications for ambitious new developments in Tenby were put on hold this week. The plans for the Coburg Garage site and the Scout and Guide Hall were both deferred by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park's development management committee on Wednesday to enable further discussions to be held over parking issues. The proposal for the Coburg Garage site in Upper Frog Street, which has been submitted by Barkwin Ltd., seeks full planning permission for the erection of 15 flats and one shop. The site consists of the existing Coburg Garage and residential buildings which currently occupy a mid-terrace position on the western flank of the town centre street. However, with a number of design issues and also a lack of highway parking for the site yet to be fully resolved, the application was deferred. "With regard to parking facilities, this is a factor that needs careful consideration, especially as the head of infrastructure management at Pembrokeshire County Council and Dyfed Powys Police have expressed concern at the lack of highway parking for this development," said National Park planning officer, Mr. David Green. Mr. Green also revealed that a meeting had been arranged with representatives of the highway authority to discuss the possibility of existing parking and park and ride facilities being improved through contribution from the developers. Meanwhile, the application by G.K.V. Developments for 10 residential flats over a new Scout and Guide Hall in Warren Street, was also deferred to allow for site parking issues to be discussed at the same meeting with the highway authority representatives. Both applications are expected to be discussed again at next month's meeting of the committee.
