Councillors in Tenby have agreed to donate £1,000 to the Wales Air Ambulance charity, after 2020’s national crisis impacted severely on the organisation’s fundraising.
In correspondence that came before the town council at its first remote meeting of 2021 on Tuesday night from the Air Ambulance’s critical care consultant Dr. Ami Jones, it was explained that despite a significant drop in funds, the organisation’s helicopter crews have been operational throughout the pandemic, providing a lifesaving service to the whole of Wales.
“In the past 12 months, we received 3,627 calls in total, of those calls, 131 were in Pembrokeshire,” said Dr. Jones.
“We currently run a 12-hour service, seven-days-a-week, 365 days-a-year; and with support we still plan to provide a 24-hour service so we can save lives in Wales regardless of the hour.”
Members of the town council agreed to to make a donation of £1,000 the charity.
