TWO members of Tenby Sea Cadet unit, Able Cadets D'Ortez and Fecci, recently spent a weekend on board the flagship of the Sea Cadets. They travelled to Portsmouth to board TS Royalist, a square-rigged sailing ship, for a weekend of sailing in the English Channel. Along with other crew members, they took part in all the ship's duties, including climbing the masts to set the sails. They had free time ashore to see other naval sites of interest, and by the end of the weekend had both completed their tasks to be awarded their offshore sailing crew badge. On returning to Tenby, they relayed their weekend adventures to other members of TS Tenby and both hope to spend more time with the offshore fleet in the future. The corps fleet consists of Royalist, three 36-foot yachts and the offshore power vessel TS John Jerwood. The Jerwood was commissioned into the fleet two years ago following a gift from the Jerwood Trust and is used by cadets for sea training. Any young people interested in becoming cadets should contact the unit on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.
