4th Tenby Brownies were invited to meet the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Julie Evans, at the Mayor's Parlour on Monday, and were given a fascinating insight into the history of the town's Mayors and councils.

They were shown the Mayoral robes, paintings, charters and the book of all the past Mayors, which included a photograph of past Mayor, the late Sidney Hughes, much to the delight of his great-grand-daughter, Brownie Tessa Hughes.

Clr. Evans even held an 'extraordinary council meeting' around the council table where the girls told her what they would like to see in Tenby.

Judging by the lively discussion, it seems likely there were a few future Mayors present!

The girls were also shown into one of the town walls' turrets, and then to top it all, the Mayor's consort, Mr. Gareth Evans, led the excited Brownies out onto the top of the town walls, where they could wave at passers-by on the South Parade.

It certainly was a wonderful evening and the girls were bursting to tell their parents all about it as they went home. Very grateful thanks go to the Mayor, and to her consort, for their hospitality, and for a truly memorable evening.
