The second meeting in May was a case of quality not quantity, according to the president as he welcomed all to the meeting.
The anniversary boy for the day was Don Griffiths, who was one of the absentees, but congratulated all the same.
The secretary reminded the members that the next Ladies Day was on May 31, when a wine and cheese buffet would be provided by Margaret.
Speaker for the morning was Ron Hurlow, who spoke about South Pembs dialects. A dry subject? Not the way Ron tells it. With humorous anecdotes and stories of his youth, he managed to keep his audience hugely entertained for the full 10 minutes. Thank you Ron for a subject well researched and a professional entertaining style.
President Darrel John finished off the meeting with some more first aid tips. This time it was on burns when his model was John Tipton. Let's hope that John recovers from all that cling film in time for the next club meeting on June 7, when the speaker will be the vice-president, Tony Webster.
If you are a retired or semi-retired professional or business person, why not join for the meeting and hear what Tony has to say. You can call the secretary, Lew Day, for more information, on 01834 844633.
