The meeting on November 19 was chaired by the president, Arthur Squibbs, who was also speaker for the morning.

With more in attendance than of late, there was quite a buzz in the air. The secretary spoke of the Christmas Lunch, which is on Wednesday, December 3, meeting at 12.30 for a 1 pm start to the feasting.

The decision was taken to abandon the proposed trip to Poole at the end of April. It had been hoped to visit the 'Sunseeker' yacht making yard for a conducted tour, but owing to the financial situation with all luxury goods, it seemed better to hold this visit back for better times. The plan now is to hold a Ladies Day with a slide show and a wine and cheese buffet instead.

The talk for the morning should have been in the form of a tape recording about the Tenby horse racing scandal from the 1930s. However, the tape proved too temperamental for the Sky set-up at the Bowling Club and Arthur was forced to talk his way through his presentation. It seems from the discussion at the end that there are books available on this subject, so no more on this controversial subject will be mentioned in this report.

The next club meeting is on December 17 when there will be a social morning with no organised speaker. Contact Lew Day on 01834 844633 for any further information.
