With the Irish trip all organised, and by the time that you read this report all should have returned home safely, it was left to the president to wish the travellers a happy holiday and fair sailing (writes L.D.). He, meanwhile, is keeping his feet on terra- firma in our absence. So it is a case of Killarney here we come. This trip was arranged as an exploratory visit, as it is some years since we went abroad and with 34 going, it would seem to be a success. Stand by for a further visit in 2009. Just watch this space. The second meeting in April was a quiet affair with no anniversary boys. The speaker for the morning was John Potter and he continued the theme of the last couple of meetings with a short sermon on his years as the vicar of the parish of Poole in Dorset and Pool in Ilfracombe, Devon. Our talks have had a flavour of the sea in them of late. Beating the bounds of Poole harbour with the Mayor of Poole seems to be an idyllic day out in good weather. Thank you, John, for a short sermon well presented. Our next meeting is on May 7 when our speaker is Wilf Hardy. For more information, ring Lew Day on 844633.
