The first meeting in August took place during the Bowling Club's 'Gold Cup Week' and so members were moved from their home in the bar into the smaller committee room. The members like to meet in the bar and no doubt it is the smell of the hops that is a major draw. President, Tony Webster, welcomed all to the meeting and promised that the next meeting would be held back in the bar area. Cheers! There were no anniversaries for the day, so it was straight down to business. The secretary told the members that Ladies Day on August 29 was organised and the club is looking forward to a large attendance for the wine and cheese buffet. The 10-minute speaker for the morning was the Rev. John Potter, who reeled off several amusing stories about actual events which had befallen him during his ministry. He also told some stories about a bishop, none of which shall be included in this report. Thank you, John, for an amusing 10 minutes. The next meeting is on August 15 when the speaker will be Don Griffiths. Contact Lew Day on 844633 for any further information about the club.
