Bert Barnikel's birthday bash: A very happy evening was had on Wednesday, November 11, when the bridge club surprised Bert with a birthday cake and a party to celebrate his 80th birthday.

Bert has been a long-standing and staunch member of the club and his friends were only too pleased to celebrate with him and drink a toast to him on this happy occasion. 

There followed a full evening of good bridge, but perhaps with some unorthodox bidding!

Wednesday, November 25: A Howell movement, which was very well-attended by 15 pairs on a very miserable. Winners were - 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 62.85 per cent; 2. Colin Nash and Peter Milewski 61.81; 3. Wendy Thornton and Wally Heaton 58.68; 4. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 54.86; 5. Christine Wilson and Denzil Evans 53.53.

Friday, November 27: Bridge was well supported again, with 13 pairs. Winners were - 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 57.50; 2. Irene Warlow and Bill Glynn 56.76; 3. Catherine and Anthony Spencer 55.83; 4. Gladys Irvine and Kevin Thomas 54.58.   

Wednesday, December 2: A Mitchell movement. Winners N/S - 1. Nicky Hancock and Peter Oeppen 69.05; 2. Irene Delahunty and Cindy Middleton 51.49; 3. Aileen and Martin Neiland 50.89. E/W - 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 62.20; 2. Wally Heaton and Wendy Thornton 61.31; 3. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 51.49.

Friday, December 4: Howell game. Winners - 1. Judy Lewis and Sue Enfield 61.48; 2. Doug Silcox and Kevin Thomas 60.37; 3. Mairi Rees and Edna Lawrence 53.70; 4.  Rosie and Alan Taylor 53.33.

Duplicate bridge is played regularly twice weekly at the Kilgetty Community Centre. New members and visitors are always welcome. They play on Wednesday at 7 pm and Friday 6.30 pm. If anyone needs a partner, please ring Rosie on 813172. 

The rare exception is on Wednesday, December 16, which is the Christmas  party dinner at the Giltar Hotel on the Tenby Esplanade, followed by the very popular duplicate individual bridge match.
