Wednesday, May 30, saw one highly competitive evening, with the pairing of Peter Milewski and Colin Nash leaving the rest floundering in their wake. Results were: 1. Peter Milewski and Colin Nash 72.50 per cent; 2. Jill and John O'Sullivan 58.75; 3. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 57.50; 4. Liz Crockford and Kevin Thomas 54.17. Friday, June 1, saw the club joining other bridge players around the world in the 21st World Wide Bridge Contest. The club's organisers were suitably stunned to find table numbers well down, especially for such a high profile event and with marvellous rewards for those who do well. It appears not many clubs in Wales supported the evening's play, as Patrick Jourdain (Daily Telegraph bridge correspondent from Cardiff) and his partner Tony Ratcliff alighted in the midst, the Tenby club being the nearest in Wales participating. They were given the usual warm welcome, as were the couple Catherine and Tony Stevens from Cardigan. A total of 5,150 pairs took part from many countries, which included the USA, South Africa, Italy and Germany. Patrick Jourdain and his partner were very sucessful, coming 47th; Liz and Kevin also shone at 640th. Duplicate bridge is played twice weekly, Wednesday at 7 pm and Friday at 6.30 pm at Kilgetty Community Centre. New members and visitors are always welcome.
