Last week's meeting at St. Florence Village Hall was a judging night for the club's internal competition for creative work.
The judge for the night was Mike Davies ARPS and he thoroughly enjoyed viewing the club members' work.
The first round was the print section, and with a very high standard, Mr. Davies explored and discussed how each image had been created. He finally awarded the top places as follows: 4. Gillian Mackay - 'Life on the Boardwalk'; 3. Harry Gardiner - 'Silent Witness'; 2. Dave Bolton - 'Fully Flushed'; 1. Jill Baxter - 'That Holiday Feeling'.
After a break for refreshments, Mr. Davies then viewed the projected images. Again the standard was very high, and with explanations from each contender, it could be seen how the image was put together. The results were: 4. Ray Hine - 'Smoking Candles'; 3. Paul Richards - 'Near Miss'; 2. Harry Gardiner - 'Searching for Gandalf'; 1. Dave Bolton - 'Don't Worry Angel, It's Only a Dream'.
Congratulations are due in particular to Dave Bolton as he is a fairly new member and these are his first successes in club competitions.
Next week's meeting, on Thursday, February 26, will be a talk by David Rowley on Photoshop Live, designed to help you get the best from your images.
