Tenby and District Camera Club has now moved into a new meeting place. Due to an increase in membership, they needed to have a much larger meeting and work area for their activities and, after finalising discussions with the community council, this has now been achieved with the Village Hall, St. Florence. An expansion and update of the club's website is now up and running thanks to Jill Baxter. St. David's Day was celebrated by members with a mixed social and photography evening. The evening opened with a quiz, with club secretary Alan Jones setting what was for some a difficult range of subjects. Nevertheless, it caused much hilarity amongst members. A break for some typical Welsh food was followed by a competition for prints for beginners and novices. This proved very successful and encouraging, with a very good standard of prints entered, showing that there is a lot of hidden talent in the membership, especially amongst some of the newer members. Usually, it is members showing the results of their trips to France etc., but on this occasion, the Gallic influence came from French member Philippe Kirchherr. Philippe entered three prints of Lawrenny and Gower and took equal second place with two prints of excellent quality, one of which had the judges in a quandary and gave them much thought and discussion. However, it was John Thomas who took first place with a beautiful print entitled 'Gone Fishing'. A well deserved success. Beginners and novice competition results: 1. John Thomas (Gone Fishing); joint 2. Philippe Kirchherr (Lawrenny Quay shipwreck and Lawrenny Quay at dusk). The next meeting is at 7.30 pm on Thursday, March 15, at the Village Hall, Fiddlers Lane, St. Florence, when entries for the print/image of the year close. The club is pleased to welcome all with an interest in photography and further details can be obtained from the chairman, Mr. Doug Williams, on (01834) 811190, or http://www.tenby-camera-club.co.uk">www.tenby-camera-club.co.uk.
