Sunday, October 19: Following a very full session of serious duplicate bridge, chairman Tina Torkington thanked Irene Delahunty, hon. secretary, for her massive input ensuring a very successful day's Swiss Teams bridge, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

She thanked June Jones for directing and Kevin Thomas for assisting. Tina also thanked those teams that supported the event from other areas, like Mumbles and Haverfordwest.

Judith Graham Jones, past president of the Welsh Bridge Union, graciously thanked the Tenby and District Club on behalf of all the bridgers for, once again, organising this popular Swiss Teams event for the delectation of the serious duplicate bridge players in West Wales, accompanied by warm applause from the large number who stayed to the end.   

Winning teams of the five separate rounds of eight boards got a bottle of wine each.

Winners overall: 1. Mike Baker, Eric Hartland, Lee Collier and Steve Jarvis; 2. Newman Vincent, Margaret Davies, Mary Hodgeon and John Hodgeon; 3. Jill O'Sullivan, Judith Graham Jones, Irene Warlow and Gloria Walters. 

Wednesday, October 22: A nine-table Mitchell movement in play, winners North/South - 1. Carmel Wiseman and Graham Hadlow 61.61 per cent; equal 2. Nicky Hancock and Peter Oeppen with Liz Crockford and Kevin Thomas 56.85. East/West - 1. Jill and John O'Sullivan 60.58; 2. Rosie Taylor and Bill Glynn 52.91; 3. Maureen Poole and Eileen Dowling 50.53.         

Friday, October 24: Winners: 1. Sue Thomas and Tony Mitchell (Newport, Pembs) 64.88; equal 2. Mike Taylor and Pam Evans with Coral Jones and Irene Warlow 57.74; 4. Gladys Irvine and Bert Barnikel 51.79; 5. Sue Enfield and Judy Lewis 50.

The Children in Need simultaneous bridge event, nationwide, will be supported by the Tenby and District Duplicate Bridge Club members once again on Wednesday, November 12. All of the proceeds going to this very worthy cause. This is a fun night and all members are encouraged to join in.
