The first meeting in June took place on a warm sunny morning. Members were pleased to have Tom Peake with them once again. Vice-president Arthur Squibbs is persevering with his attempt to run a trip to Ireland in the spring of next year. If you are interested, contact him on (01834) 843694. On July 14, the club is holding a commemorative service at St. Johns Church. This year is the 25th anniversary of the club and the president, Tony Webster, wished to mark the event in this way. Anniversary boy for the day was John Green and he was wished well in his absence. The 10 minute speaker for the morning was Brendan Coates who recounted his experiences with the motor industry. There were tales of the 'little red sports car' and a BMW with a Ford engine (he will put anything into anything will Brendan!). This called for many motoring reminiscences from the rest of the club members and resulted in a lively discussion. Thank you Brendan for your spontaneous address. Members are particularly asked to attend the next meeting when there is to be a 'photo-shoot' with their very own 'David Bailey'. That will be on Wednesday when the speaker will be that noted short story specialist Darrel John. If you are a retired gentleman and want to get out from under your wife's feet, go and join them for the morning. Contact Lew Day on 844633 for further information.
