After last week's epic report, there's just the one match to catch up with this week, but also important news about the next inter-club match with Clevedon Pier SAC. After the recent Candy Cup on the North Beach, we were hoping that the catches that day heralded the start of the winter season proper and, although we could be tempting fate, that does seem to be the case.
November 16, Mid Week match: Ten anglers arrived at the multi-storey to book in on what was a very wet night at times. Discussions at the start suggested that a number of different venues would be targeted, including Saundersfoot, Tenby Harbour and Lydstep, with hopes high for a good weig- in as the sea was still in an agitated state.
Whilst we didn't quite have the variety of the previous weekend, all the competitors had fish to record and John Gaze even managed to remember to weigh his fish before putting them back in the sea! You can get pills for this John!
Garfield and chairman Karl came back from Saundersfoot with some slamming dogfish, with one pushing the scales round to within 4% of the current club record. Needless to say, Karl took the victory with that fish.
Results were: 1. Karl Boyle, LSD 1.282kg; 2. G. P. Thomas, bag 1.619kg; 3. El Presidente Roy Edge, LSD 0.973kg.
Thanks go to Garf and Karl for returning the dogs alive.
A quick update now on this coming Sunday's inter-club against Clevedon SAC Pier. We will now start the match at 11.30 and end at 3.30 to allow plenty of time for the post-match festivities and also to enable Clevedon's bus driver to be back on the road promptly ('elf and safety, guv'!). Any anglers who intend to fish and partake of the post-match hot food, please let Nev or another committee man know by tomorrow (Saturday) please.
Clevedon are threatening to bring 21 competitors, so we need to be fully mobilised to retain this trophy. See you all Sunday!
