As with a recent report, it is with more sadness that the club reflects on the passing of another of its revered members. Mr. 'John' Bird was a very respected member of the club for many years and held the office of treasurer with great tenacity and distinction. It would be fair to say that the club remains in sound financial health largely because of John's careful stewardship and his 'schooling' of his successor. Totter is just as hard to convince when we need to spend money! John's legacy remains and all who knew him were privileged to have done so.

June 7, Dinghy Match: A forecast NE 5-7 meant the match was tapped. The wind didn't materialise, however, which was annoying for the small boat chaps.

June 21, Roving Match: Eight anglers entered the rover and the chance to have a wander to rocks or wherever took their fancy. Marks near Manorbier, the Haven and Pendine were the venues of choice. Ballan and Corkwing Wrasse together with the obligatory LSD were recorded. The results were tight in the end, with Nev having to do a recount just to be sure!

1. Barry Taylor and Nev Andrews, 45 pts; 2. Ben and Steve Cook, 42.

July 3, Night Owl, Freshwater East: After the recent high temperatures, it was good to be on Fresh East for a crack at the summer species. There was quite a stiff WSW wind and a nice few rollers hitting the beach. However, just a few LSD were recorded and these were very localised (i.e. next to GPT and Stevie Lewis!)

Results were: 1. Mike Williams, LSD 0.786 kg; 2. Steve Lewis, bag 2.781 kg; 3. G P Thomas, LSD 0.655 kg.

The next match is the Family Trophy at Pendine, fishing from 4 'til 8 pm. Access has been arranged to go up the beach, so please don't be late.
