At Pendine on January 15, a good turnout of 14 anglers, including two juniors, saw some good quality flounders caught, despite the very wet and cold conditions. Twelve anglers weighed in and produced the following result: 1. Barry Taylor, flounder 0.818 kg; 2. Gareth Boyle, bag of 2.060 kg (junior and winning the Howells' Junior Cup); 3. Karl Boyle, flounder 0.646 kg. Well done dad and son - second and third. Another very consistent turnout of 14 anglers ventured forth on another miserable night for the midweek match. It was a bit damp, but no wind! Thirteen of the 14 anglers weighed in LSD, whiting and dab, with the final result being: 1. Idris Williams, LSD 0.846 kg; 2nd Dyffrig Allen, bag 1.572 kg; 3. Karl Boyle, LSD 0.788 kg. On Sunday, 17 hardy souls made the early morning trip to Clevedon for the annual attempt at some cod fishing, including one junior, Martin Roberts. The fish were plentiful, if frequently under-sized. Overall, Clevedon won the match and the Tenby club now looks forward to revenge in November when Clevedon travel down for a return match on the North Beach. All members who went would want to thank Garfield Thomas and Roy Edge for driving the buses on the day and Clevedon Pier SAC for a warm welcome at their club and for a welcome meal. Result: 1. Idris Williams, whiting 0.298 kg; 2. Garfield Thomas, dab 0.184 kg. Next match is at Coppet Hall this Sunday, January 29, fishing from 12 noon until 4 pm. Please all turn out as this is the very important Norman Roach Memorial Trophy. Further information at any time from Nev Andrews on 01834 814072.
