Tenby AFC's annual 'Night Owl' nightclub sponsored, sevens tournament was held recently, attracting 28 teams and almost 300 players to the Clicketts sports ground.
One team travelled from as far as Mold in North Wales and others from across South Wales to join the home and other Pembrokeshire teams.
In the Under 10 division, Tenby's team, managed by Huw Bridges, beat a strong team from Hendy in Llanelli 2-1 in the final, with goals by Toby Smith and Keifer Thomson, while in the Under 12s final, Hendy got their revenge, winning 1-0 against Steve Briers' Tenby team after extra-time.
The Under 14 final was keenly contested between Monkton Swifts and Tenby, who had both seen off very strong teams from Hendy and Mold Alexander in the semi-finals. Monkton came out on top with goals by Jonathan Badrock and Daniel Scourfield, David Otton pulling one back for Tenby in vain.
The man-of-the-match awards for the finals went to Ben Nicholas, Monkton Swifts (U14), Matthew Jones, Tenby (U12) and Rhys Winter, Tenby (U10).
The club is indebted to local referees, Colin McCarthy, Gwilym Lewis, Paul Jackson, Alan Buckfield and Keith McNiffe, who combined his refereeing with assisting the St. John Ambulance.
Thanks are also due to tournament trophy sponsors, the Night Owl, Texaco (marquee), Carl Evans and colleagues, Ann Rowell (catering), Tenby Leisure Centre and Tenby ATC (car parking) and everyone else who helped put on the very successful and much enjoyed event.
