Tempus Choir, well known in Pembrokeshire under the baton of Seimon Morris, set off for Aberystwyth Art Centre on Saturday, February 22, to compete in the semi-final of Côr Cymru. Every two years the Côr Cymru competition takes place to find the best choir in Wales.

The preliminaries in this area took place at St. Thomas Picton School early on and Tempus won through, the first choir from Pembrokeshire ever to do so. The standard was very high and each choir received a CD of their performance.

Tempus is a very different choir from other choirs. They are as comfortable singing pop and gospel as they are performing music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. They look completely different as well, dressed in any clothes they wish as long as it is red and black. Their age range also causes comment as they range from 11-years-old to 55+!.

In the semi-final they sang in Latin, English and Welsh. There are very few in the choir who speak Welsh fluently apart from their conductor, but they sing and enjoy Welsh music in their repertoire.

Tempus will be featured on S4C at 8.45 pm tomorrow (Saturday) night with the three other mixed choirs who reached the semi-final.
