Celebrating their golden wedding anniversary next weekend are Templeton couple Peggy and George Morgan, of Piper Cottage, Penygraig Drive.

Peggy is originally from Jeffreyston and George hails from Redberth, and the pair became romantically entwined following a blind date back in 1945.

They married in 1953 in Cold Inn Chapel where Peggy kept up the tradition of the bride being late - a full 30 minutes late in fact due to running out of petrol!

The couple settled in Redberth until 1966 when they moved to Templeton and subsequently ran the village Post Office until 1990. George also worked at Templeton Farm for 18 years with their friends, Willi and Mair Davies.

Peggy is very well known throughout the county for her music and was the conductor of Templeton Ladies Choir for 30 years.

The couple are very proud of their two children, daughter Jill, and son Kevin and his wife Arabella, and their two grandchildren, Christopher and Kathryn.

They are looking forward to them all joining them for their golden celebrations next weekend.
