Tempers are beginning to fray over roadworks which are causing chaos in Tenby, claimed the town's police chief this week. "There is surely little point in driving into the town centre knowing that there hardly any parking spaces," Inspector Les Clark told the Observer. "I would appeal to drivers wishing to visit the town centre to use the multi-storey car park (which is free) rather than risk being booked for parking in the town.  "The traffic warden service in Tenby has been increased by half (jointly funded by the police and Pembrokeshire County Council) and the wardens have been very proactive." In the last few days, at least 80 fixed penalty notices have been issued to illegal parkers who cause chaos for others. Added Insp. Clark: "I am very keen that dropped kerbs and disabled parking spaces should not be abused. These important facilities must be available for those that need them and not those who are too lazy to walk from the multi-storey."
