SEVEN Pembrokeshire County Council staff recently achieved their Team Leader Awards.

The Team Leader Award is a nationally recognised qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management (formerly NEBSM). It is an intensive course which runs for one day each week for four months. During this time, the candidates have to give a presentation on one of the modules from the course, as well as completing personal development logos for each module, and passing an exam at the end of the course.

The course is designed for team leaders and prospective team leaders within the authority. It is the first award in a qualification based management development programme which is then followed by a Certificate in First Line Management.

The course prepares candidates to take on more managerial responsibility as a result of grater awareness of how management principles can be applied to benefit their teams.

Presenting the awards to the seven successful candidates, Mr. Francis Maull, head of personnel, said that each member of staff had worked to a very high standard to achieve these awards.
